Editors’ Pick: Welcome to the Monkey House

Monkey House
The Dandy Warhols are known as much for their debaucherous antics as they are for the music, as highlighted in the 2004 documentary, DiG! (though admittedly they come off tame compared to the also-profiled Brian Jonestown Massacre). For those unfamiliar with the Dandy’s catalog, we recommend the electro-rock nugget, Welcome to the Monkey House. Co-produced by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, Welcome to the Monkey House exhibits more of a pop sensibility than their previous releases, and features Taylor-Taylor’s droning vocals over a neo-new wave concoction of synthesizer, drums and guitar. Stand out tracks include “We Used to Be Friends,” “I Am A Scientist,” and “The Last High,” that will make you feel, well, high – but without any nasty side effects.
