This took some getting used to but I think I’ve figured it out now.
At first, I was suffering from the same issue as other reports; water pressure confusing contacts with the panel on the smart phone and causing unwanted results.
However, I have managed to just barely squeeze my phone WITH a TPU rubber shell installed into the ‘Dandy Case’.
Since this particular TPU Shell has a wraparound part which comes all the way around the front of the Lumia, it manages to keep the inside surface of the ‘Dandy Case’ elevated and prevents unwanted contact with the screen around the important perimeter of the screen (where the controls are located). Also, since it is a very tight squeeze getting the phone (with the TPU case installed) to fit inside the ‘Dandy Case’, this manages to keep what is essentially a plastic bag stretched tight around the phone thus avoiding all of the wrinkles and inconsistent control operation described in other reviews.
So, in short, yes, it is cool but I did experience ALL of the same operational problems described in other reviews.
However, by squeezing my phone WITH its TPU shell inside the ‘Dandy Case’, my phone now works perfectly and I could not be happier with the video result.
There is no apparent distortion or reduction in light from the ‘Dandy Case’ and my beloved Lumia 1520.3 shot the same incredible video I would expect, even in low light situations.
I think I’ll probably buy some more of these just to have in case my first one gets damaged or they model gets discontinued.
Be advised, my Lumia 1520.3 has a 6” screen.
That is the absolute maximum possible size screen that could fit inside the with a TPU shell installed.
Conceivably there could be some other perimeter solution for the larger screens but I do not know what that might be.
The mega 6.3 is listed as a phone that fits this case but
after the first STRUGGLE to get it in and back out again
I WOULD NOT USE THIS CASE FOR THE MEGA PHONE!!!
With the phone in the case the camera lens is partially obstructed so pictures cant be taken and there is no access to power button on the side of phone. TOO MANY OBSTACLES FOR MEGA 6.3.
I planned to use it for a trip to the beach with grandkids.
maybe I will use it for small things I dont want to drop in the sand...ID card, keys and the like.
Check out one of my videos here:
I found that video worked better because you can't use the touch screen under water. I was expecting and ready to return home with a destroyed phone because I wanted a reason to get a new one but this thing worked perfectly and unfortunately I'm still stuck using this piece of crap Motorola Photon Q.
No need to buy a Go Pro for your vacation!
