Like other reviews on here, this memory card stopped working within minutes of using it out of its packaging. Everything seemed to be fine but when we later went to upload the photos/review them we received an error message and have now been unsuccessful in retrieving the images, despite mutliple attempts at data recovery software. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY!

I got this card as a throw-away add-on when I bought a Rebel refurb off of eBay. There were 5 "accessories" including this card. The card reader was crap as were 3 of the 4 other accessories.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the card was a Dane-Elec. I've purchased DE flash cards over the years and have had good experience with them. I believe Dane-Elec is a respected, relatively large European manufacturer of flash memory. However, I assumed that this card, a type 4, would be super slow.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it keeps up with my XSI just fine. Although the Rebel is no speed demon, rated at 3.5 fps, the DE card had no problem meeting that rating while shooting in camera raw! This factoid is significant because a raw 12 megapixel file can be 18-20MB plus the jpg means that the card must read as much as 23MB of data for every picture taken. Now, I don't know how big the camera's buffer is. If it is 100MB or more, then the card speed probably doesn't matter. However, this card hasn't slowed me down.

One surprising aspect of this card is its speed relative to the Transcend 8GB card that I purchased. I assumed that the DE would be at best on par with the Transcend, Type 6, and maybe a bit slower. The reverse was true. In an entirely unscientific test, my computer wrote to the DE more than twice as fast as it did to the Transcend (8-10MB/sec versus 4-5MB/sec). The reads were on par with both cards peaking at about 15MB/sec.

Overall, the card represents a very good value. Currently, their prices are very close. If I were to buy more cards, I would choose the DE.

My new Cannon camera came with a free Dane-Elec 8G memory card. For my upcoming trip to Israel, I decided to use it and I purchased another PNY 8G card in case I needed more memory. For the first half of the trip everything was fine, but then suddenly the Dan-Elec card started malfunctioning. My camera kept saying "memory card error." At first I thought it was the camera, but when I put in my PNY card it worked fine. When I got back to the States, I took both cards to Walgreens to have the pictures developed. The pictures on the PNY card came up with no problem, however the machine could not read the Dane-Elec. I took it to Walmart and Best Buy and they could not figure out what was wrong with it and said that nothing could be done. They even said that that the data on it may have been erased. I was incredibly sad--I had all these memories of Israel through pics that I might not ever see again. I prayed and was led to ask a man who works in our media department at my place of employment for assistance. He helped me download some memory recovery software and for some reason the card could be read again and I was able to find my picures and save them to a zip drive. Needless to say I was SOOOOO EXCITED and relieved. Thank God! The bottom line is that I will NEVER use or purchase a Dane-Elec memory card again. I'll stick with name brands--I never want to go through this type of headache again--especially when it comes to international traveling!

I bought this card to go with my new camera. I took about 30 shots on it. When I turned the camera back on later, it said 'memory card error'. The card had broken after only a few hours of use, and nothing I did could fix it. My pictures are lost, and now I must buy a new card. A *different* card.

16GB is quite a lot for an SD card and there are people that clearly need the capacity (evidently like myself.) There it's a great product for flash memory when people need a speedy, spacious piece of space to store their data and this would work out just fine.

Because this is a "simpler" device than other things I've reviewed, I would end this review off quicker than others… however, I must point out something that the manufacturer failed to do on the packaging. SD cards are the base form of the small digital storage medium, but SDHC is something not every device will be able to handle. For example, I attempted to use this with my MFC, or "Multi-Function Center" (Scanner/Printer/Fax/Copier.) That MFC won't read or write on the card, so it's a small thing of disappointment. I could only wish the manufacturer let me know about that because not everyone knows or takes the "HC" part of "SDHC" into consideration when they're not as tech savvy or keen to prudent and swift learning to newer tech advancements (at the time.)

this SD card is garbage. Don't waste your time buying it. Like other reviewers posted, you'll discover that if it works at all, it will only work reliably for about 5 minutes and then it will be unreadable. Spend a few more dollars and get a real brand name,

In reading this previous review. I finally realized where I got this memory card. It came with the camera. My advise, get rid of it fast! Buy something more reliable (SanDisk) My wife lost a days shooting. She was not a happy camper, when at the end of the day it said " Memory card error"
