Anyway, the description suited me, and boy oh boy was it everything i thought and then some. Stone is a Dom who has some strong history with Nate. Although Nate is clearly ready to commit to a life with Stone, but Stone is not ready it seems, so they parted ways about a year ago.
Kayla works for the same security firm, Hawkeye, that Nate and Stone are associated with. They are put together in this case to protect Stone as he prepares to testify against a major criminal. Although that is the back story here, the real story is the coming together of the 3 of them in what starts out to be a casual D/s/s romp in the playroom, to a serious relationship between all 3. The play scenes are hot, and the little added suspense of the trial and danger they face, makes it a fun read. Gonna move on to the next Hawkeye book and hope to enjoy it just as much as this one...
Kayla adds so much to the mix. She is hot, and loves to watch these two powerful men. I love that she wants to be a part of it. I feel for her as well when she too has to find out that Wolf can't give all of himself. Can't or won't. I love that she and Nick can comfort and grow together.
I love books that have a great story when a menage is involved. This book is it!!!!
Buy and enjoy. You will be happy you did.
It's also hard to get a stronger conflict than testifying against the cartel. There were so many conflicts within that main conflict that could had been added. The attack on them was good before Stone had to testify, but Sierra could have given more detail about what Stone witnessed. Stone comes into court and causes an uproar, but where did that come from? Once again no past reflection on his feelings towards the cartel. Stone is a fierce agent, so expressing the struggle he and his team had to get the cartel leader could have been written. Maybe even flooding some of his team mates because of the cartel could have been mentioned. I'm just saying more could have been added to explain his sudden actions when he entered court, and right after that Cartwright zips straight to hot sex in Mexico, and explains the verdict in two sentences. There was such a lead up throughout the story about Stone making it to court alive to testify, so I was shocked when I was in the court on one page and then in Mexico the next.
Hot sex is greatly appreciated but it's not everything. Like I said this story has the beginnings to be a really good story it just needs more development. The characters are strong and like able, the conflict will definitely grab your attention, and the sex is hot. It just lacks more. I'm not even saying don't read it because I enjoyed it while I read it. I just wanted...guess what? MORE!!
Danger Zone, Hawkeye, is about an agency that provides security details for endangered high-priority individuals. When one of the agents becomes a witness, he now becomes the protectee verses the protector. Although Wolf does not like feeling he can not protect himself, he reluctantly gives in,
Wolf is a very domineering man and always wants to feel in control. Nate and Kayla have been assigned to protect Wolf. Although Nate and Wolf have had a relationship prior to the assignment, he is determined not to let it interfere with the current assignment. However, the sexual tension is too much for all three of them.
Even though Wolf feels complete when he is with Nate and Kayla, he struggles internally with his mentality that he does not need anyone. Can Wolf open up and let the two people in that can bring him the happiness he needs?
This series shows how BDSM can be a total power exchange. The love that grows between the characters is heart-warming. I highly recommend this series.
