JS you started off this new series with a bang. Way to go.
thanks J.S. Scott
The story is almost twice as long as any of JS stories that I've read so far
I liked both Kat and Zack
The plot was interesting
The supporting characters were interesting
The story didn't end abruptly
It was a cute paranormal romance
The villains were a bit more devious and formidable than the poor saps in the vampire coalition books and therefore provided a bit of real danger and a bit of suspense
The love/sex scenes were somewhat better than they were in JS's other short stories read thus far, (i.e. a bit more vivid and thus somewhat more provocative)
I still don't find the writing all that impressive, i.e. still lacks sufficient vividness and a commitment to flushing out the story sufficiently
Character development still dismal; character still too one dimensional
The premises has great potential but the execution is still lazy
Too much telling and not enough showing (I guess b/c showing vs telling require more time and creativity?)
Despite its shortcomings, I still found it to be a reasonably enjoyable read.
Although, I may read the other novellas in the Series I don't plan to do so right now. In this instance, reading this author's stories back to back maybe adversely affecting my ability to enjoy them because I've become accustom to the author apparently limited writing style, limited proses and limited imagination so the stores are sounding too much alike. What that old expression: "the stories are the same but the names have been changed...." LOL
I gave it 3 stars because overall it was an okay reading experience and I don't regret reading it. Under amazon's rating system 3 stars mean "It's Okay." Not extraordinary, memorable or vastly unique, sadly it could have been with a bit more time and effort, but just okay.
