New emotions come to play for me. The anger, jealousy, insecurities, and the fear. All of the emotions that these characters are going through, you ride it along with them. Just like book one, I spent a whole day reading and hoping for the best to come. All the characters are back, just from different locations. This book was hard on Kenzie as you can feel her torment and loss. She tried so hard to hold on to the race, I probably would have done the same things that she did if I was in her shoes. You never want to lose a piece of you, even for a boy.
I talk a lot about emotions not so much of the story. The story you will need to one-click this book and find out what happens. I can say that you are on a heavier emotional ride. That is why I have been a fan of S.C. Stephens all these years. She brings so much complexity to her stories that you can not help but stay tied to her books. I now The Rush series that will go along with my Thoughtless book collection. I will never let go of Kellan and now Hayden. There was a few things going on at the end that has me anxious for next book.
Hayden is caught in his past and his present. Felicia was a big part of his life until she wasn't. She isn't making things easy for him either. He struggles with getting the closer he needs with Felicia and the feelings she brings out in him when she is near. He knows that Kenzie is his future but he struggles to move forward because of his past.
My heart broke for Kenzie. Her father is just a flat out dick. Her sisters are siding with their father and her boss is a nightmare. Hayden just made things worse with his poor choices. He meant well but the road he took was all sorts of bumpy, angsty and dangerous, which we all know S.C Stephens is great at creating.
The ending wasn't what I expected, it was different from your typical HEA and I liked it. It was more realistic because in real life, things are never really perfect and I like that this ending kept it real.
I am hoping that there is a third book coming in this series. I am dying to see where Nikki and Myles end up as well as Hayden and Kenzie's future both personally and professionally.
Hayden is committed to his "family" and once you are in he is a protector and takes care of his family. When Felicia asks for forgiveness what will this mean for Kenzie and Hayden?
Just as Kenzie has lost her team, her career, her father and her sisters it appears that Hayden and Felicia is living everything Kenzie gave up just to have Hayden as her boyfriend. Suddenly Hayden is lying to Kenzie about several things.
As a reader I was so frustrated with the characters and the way they lied to claim that they were protecting one another.
I loved the book because the stubbornness of all the characters came out in the end and everyone was keeping secrets. Lies and secrets end up destroying most relationships.
S.C. Stephens has created beautiful, in-depth characters. McKenzie and Hayden have a slew of obstacles in their path to happy ever after. It's A wild read packed with emotion. There is no cliff hanger but you will wish there was more.....
