Hannah loves her father, but not his trying to control her life. She suspects he said something to Mason to get him to back off and wonders why Mason runs hot and cold. But she needs help retrieving possessions from the storage shed of a man she dated who refuses to give them back. So she calls Mason. And during the move, Mason learns she is going alone to Mexico on a vacation trip she recently won. Her father is on a mission and is radio silent, so there is no way to let him know what's happening, but Mason can't let her go alone. She accepts his offer to go with her, not realizing at first he plans for the trip to be for protection only. Then at the resort Mason is drugged with a drink meant for Hannah and two women she met go missing. What was meant to be a long weekend of fun and sand quickly turns into one of danger.
What kept this from being a great read for me is Hannah's age, education and experience (or lack thereof), and her still being under the thumb of her God fearing father. I understand the vulnerability of Mason's position as an employee who was given a direct order and feels he has no other options for employment. But Hannah's ongoing acquiescence doesn't ring true.
Love the pacing, story line and just about every thing about this book.
This series just seems to get me - and just keep getting better!
Mason would really like to get to know Hannah better. But her father is his boss and has told him in so many words - "stay away."
What are these two to do? A vacation to Mexico? One would think that would be a simple thing with a lot of fun involved. Right? You forget you are reading a Sidney Bristol book. Surprises, suspense, and drama around every corner.
Be prepared for some heart-stopping action. This author can write some hairy suspense as well as hot romance. Great combination very well done.
