Felix Larson, retired Royal Navy, isn't the one who normally handles the asset but this time he seems to be the only one who can handle the hard headed Jackie who questions every decision and wants to argue every point. Jackie doesn't know why out of all the guys on the team she feels like she can trust the straightforward Felix to tell her the truth and she willingly puts her life into his hands. Jackie doesn't want to wait to see if they make it out alive she wants to be with Felix just in case they don't make it. An action packed story about greed and power and the attempt to overthrow a government. It's not an easy case for any of the Aegis boys this go around and just when things finally seem to start to go there way Jackie discovers something that Felix had been hiding from her and it major enough to ruin their chances at a relationship.
Overall, as always Sidney Bristol does a fantastic job with active setting and emotionally tying you to the characters. I found myself holding my breath at points because of stuff happening to the secondary characters. I'm crossing my fingers at who the next couple is.
This particular story focuses on Felix. He has appeared in other stories and never made much of an impression on me. I thought he was kind of a stick in the mud. Now, I'm in love with this guy! He may be my favorite one from Aegis. Wow! Aside from sounding incredibly hot (think Thor), he's thoughtful, tender, honest, faithful, and I could go on. I can't think of a single negative quality he demonstrated. And yes, Jackie was a pretty awesome human being also.
This story was particularly suspenseful - every time I thought they were going to escape, something unexpected would come up. It was maddening. I honestly got to the point that I didn't know what to expect. I wondered if someone, maybe even more than one person, would die. There was no predicting what was going to happen. I loved this book!
