They obviously were physically attracted to each other as they shared several passionate kisses, and yet they were still clueless about how each other felt? Seems odd for this "chaste" society. They were both intensely attracted from the first chapter, but didn't believe the other could feel the same until nearly the end.
I gave it 3 stars because when all is said and done I am a story junkie and it kept me wanting to know the end, even as I rolled my eyes.
Maybe for some readers that are regency time period purists they would view it as scandalous for a 'nobody' to be pushed to be a 'somebody' like Annie was but it was such an enjoyable read I say who cares!
I loved the reason why a puppy isn't a good gift! And everyone needs a Tibby in their lives! This is the second book that I'm still dying to hear what will happen with Marianne's story and Colin's brother's story. Hopefully all will be revealed in book 5.
Like Ms. Connolly's other books in this series, there were several scenes that had me laughing out loud and others that had me grinning like a ninny at how sweet it was. Another great, clean, stand alone book!
call me crazy, but I didn't like that not even 24 hours passed between what seemed to be the worst beating of her life and their wedding night. I think that's what's leaving me the most unsettled here. Seems like maybe some of the cuts should have healed first. Maybe they had no choice but to marry immediately because they really couldn't be in that inn without a chaperone, but the story seemed to imply that a good bath put everything to right.
I will almost certainly re-read the book. I always do with a four star book or better. If I find that the fault is mine for having read it too fast, I will come back and revise my review. 4 stars still means, "yes, I think you should buy it." But I'll probably go back and read Moira and Nathan's story again first.
