About the author

As a small child, I grew up living next door to my grandmother who was a voracious and passionate reader. For me, this meant that I had an endless supply of books in my favorite genres at my disposal. I read them greedily. My grandmother knew that books were more than mere words on a page. A well-crafted story has the power to stir the imagination and take us far beyond the boundaries of our own reality. There is no limit to where we may travel or what adventures we may find. Is it any wonder that I fell in love?
It was a natural progression and almost inevitable that I would begin penning my tales. I always thought I would release a young adult novel as my first publication. However, when the moment arrived, I found that my heart told me it was time to pay-it-forward and share the gift of reading with curious, young emergent readers. My grandmother would have approved.
My early chapter book series first began as a short story for my daughter, Danielle, when she was seven years old. She became my sweet and sassy protagonist. Although the character of Dani is purely fictional, the perky smile, mischievous brown eyes, and honey-brown hair mimicked my daughter’s image. She loved the idea of being at the center of the adventure and watching the tale unfold and being larger than life. To distinguish the character from reality, Dani was born with her own personality.
I strongly believe that an early literacy foundation is paramount to a child’s educational success. The key is to present books that a child finds entertaining. When a child tells me they do not like to read, I often say to them:
Books are like ice cream, there is a flavor for everyone.
Children who do not like to read have yet to find their flavor, which is why I feel it is so important that we offer books from different genres until they find something of interest. It is my hope that the Dani P. Mystery series will be one of your child’s flavors.

Dani and the Mall Caper is another delight for young readers. A grand mystery, written for today's kids, who are more sophisticated. Well-developed characters and plot lines are very believable. Who wouldn’t be intrigued by the mall mysteries, especially when you are 8 to 12 years old? The ideal topic for young readers! This is a fantastic story about two little detectives, Dani and Chloe, trying to prove to Sheriff Spinelli that they can keep their small town safe. Don’t let me start on the thief...
The storyline is carefully crafted, sends proper messages, and entertains children from the beginning. In my opinion, it is a great mix of mystery, humor, and fun! I applaud the author for using new words and asking children to find them in the story. A wonderful idea to add big words to their vocabulary!
I love the narrator's voice in this story: kidlike, likable, and so easy to relate to. The new adventures of Dani and Chloe were thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. I can honestly say that this is a story that can be read repeatedly in a classroom, used for fun reading or for homeschooling. It is filled with great action. The plot flows smoothly and reads effortlessly. A highly recommended read for children, patents, and teachers. A wholesome and fun story, which captures a child’s mind and imagination! I am ready for the next story!
The story starts out giving you a feel of who the characters are and builds on the first book. Dani and Chloe's personalities are developed even more in this book. The story shows the friendship these two characters have towards one another is genuine. They have each other’s back, no matter what.
K. Lamb has created something that I'm sure parents and teachers are going to love. Her website for this book series has sections dedicated to kids, parents and teachers. There are lots of educational content on the website that I'm sure teachers and parents will love the fun activities for the kids that corresponds to the book. She even put test questions at the back of the book.
My kids can't wait for volume three to come out. Nice job.
There is a crime about to go down at the mall and it's up to Dani and Chloe to stop the infamous "Mr. Wright" or as the girls call him; the Pretzel Guy. When Dani and Chloe discover something fishy going on in the mall, they have no other choice but to think of a plan to stop Mr. Wright!
We've read Dani and the Haunted House and when the 2nd book, Dani and the Mall Caper, came out, I knew I had to get it for my nephew. We love reading together and I encourage good books to be sitting upon our bookshelves. This series is charming, mysteriously fun for children, suspenseful and filled with childlike humor which adults can enjoy! I found myself laughing along with my nephew as we read this story together.
I highly recommend this series! We simply can't wait for the next Dani P Mystery installment. Keep them coming, Kristen Lamb!
What's really cool is that even as an adult, I was eager to find out what happened next in the story! My schedule is usually quite challenging, but I wanted to stay up late to finish the book. To me, that's one of the signs of great writing!
K Lamb's style is wonderful and her characters are lovable. I especially like the fact that Dani is portrayed as being determined to succeed in spite of feeling fear now and then, and that she is loyal to her family and friends. There are many wonderful life lessons.
I wish this book and the entire series had been around when I was a child, and am looking forward to the next book!
