A phenomenal player, excellent teacher, and a great guy! This book is not for beginners. It is advanced level instruction. The concepts Daniel shows you are what every pro country/blues guitar player needs to know, but he assumes you already have a full working knowledge of the fretboard and theory (or you need to learn it real fast!). Your familiarity with the chords and scales of CAGED should be automatic otherwise it is easy to get lost with why he's showing you the concepts he is demonstrating and where he's pulling his licks from. Excellent, modern country guitar playing that combines the sounds of old country with modern concepts of chromaticism. I learned a lot from this book and the accompanying instructional DVD. It's one of those books, that even after you've worked through the material, you'll review it frequently. Looking forward to more from Daniel! If you're in Nashville, catch him at Robert's on Broadway with the Don Kelley Band Wed-Sat 6:30-10:30p. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome training by a great upcoming virtuoso who is one of the best players here in Nashville. He's also a great young man with a great heart. Danny teaches big concepts, unlike so many other training series that just teach licks but no big picture concept. I will say the demos on the DVD are at such a fast tempo I had to run it thru an app that lets me play the audio file at 1/4 speed to hear all the note accents... It does have full tabs though to help.

Order the paperback. The Kindle version has issues with the font size and the tab. (as of 11/04/15-not my first bad experience with this) The tabs are in several different sizes with lines omitted and spacing being inconsistent. If you are not familiar with tab or just beginning this can be confusing. You also don't get the audio or video content ( at least I did not).
That being said...go order the book. Daniel is a great player and the examples given are a treasure trove of amazing licks that you can learn from if you are an ambitious beginner or a intermediate/advanced player. No wasted space, just bar after bar of licks. I am a big fan of the "Nashville" style of playing and Daniel's book is full of great examples.
Watch his Youtube stuff and here you have similar all tabbed out for you.

Perfect book to take your hybrid picking to the next level!! It is now part of my daily practice routine. If you never master the whole book you will at least be 10-20 times better just for working from it!!

Most guitar players, me included, spend years soloing in the same limited fret space. Check out any guitar or amp demo on youtube and you'll see what I mean. Daniel shows you how to bust out of your comfort zone and attack the entire neck with amazing results. He breaks down the CAGED theory into triads, teaches you how to connect them in solo, and throws in plenty of nuance with bend and double stop lessons. This was exactly what I was looking for. I'm about a third through the book and feel more excited about playing and learning than I have in many years (I'm 48). Thanks Daniel. Looking forward to your next effort.

Great DVD on an amazing up and coming player. Shows some great insight into this particular style. The only issue is that if you are new to this particular style be prepared to feel a little overwhelmed. Just take it slow, have the pause button (or shortcut key) handy, & keep your mind open. Learn the licks them make them your own. Isn't that what creating music is all about?

Daniel's a great player and seems to be a nice enough fella. The production quality is really good. If you're completely new to country type playing, and a beginner-intermediate, you can learn a lot from this. But as Daniel says when introducing double stops, there's a bunch of crazy stuff you can do with them, but we're all just beginners so we'll do the simple stuff.

1) He's not a beginner. 2) Neither am I.

Yes, if I had unlimited time, I could sit down for 10 hours a day and transcribe like I did in my teens and early 20s and wouldn't need a lesson series. But I don't have unlimited time, only motivation, desire, and a lot of playing under my fingers -- and I look to books like this to help shorten that curve. For that reason, FOR ME this was a disappointment.
