What I didn't like is the fact that evidently nobody ever proofread this story. I have come to expect typos and misspellings and mistakes in the writing of most authors -- with the notable exception of Jayne Ann Krentz and Karen Rose -- but the amount of errors here was terrible. I don't know why other authors can't get someone to proof their writing. It really is very distracting when mistakes pop up all over the place. Maybe I'm too critical, but I think every author should make sure their work is as error free as possible.
If I had known of the quality of the proofing, I probably would have still downloaded the Kindle version because I like the series that the author has going. I don't recall his prior books in this series having this many mistakes. Maybe he was rushed for some reason.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Wait Until Dark.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest review. I actually already owned it but rereading it was fun.
It's a shorter novel but in no way short on character development or story line. Most of the great characters from the first book in the series, The Night is Mine, make a return visit. It's like catching up with old friends. It has all the terrific trademark elements of the first two books. Pulse-pounding action, fascinating technical details, engrossing story line, heart warming romance. This is Daniel's story who is now the White House Chief of Staff. And new character, Dr. Alice Thompson, who is a genius-level analyst with the CIA, whose report puts Daniel and the President on a path with international repercussions. The author's writing style will keep you glued to the page and give you laugh-out-loud moments along the way.
This book was perfect to tide me over while waiting for the next book in the series, Wait Until Dark. If you haven't read the first two books in the series, The Night is Mine and I Own the Dawn, give yourself an early Christmas present and go back and read them. You won't be sorry!
