It is fairly well written, although it is a little more choppy than some of the other books in the series. This seems to be a book by a relatively new author. It was initially published as a serial in the Grantville Gazette e-magazine. It will be interesting to see if there are follow-ups to the characters and locations in this book. I do not remember mention of this colony in the later book 1636: Commander Cantrell in the West Indies, which is the attempt to start colonizing in the Gulf of Mexico by Denmark, yet the northern colony should be well established by that point.
This seems to be a reasonable book, but not fully connected into the main story line of the 1632 series.
a colony in what is now Canada. The writing seems a bit clumsy, because the author is trying to fit in this aspect of the broad outline
without giving spoilers or trampling on the toes of the main story arc. (Trampling on the toes? Did I just call somebody else clumsy?)
King Christian is always interesting, and he has hired some fascinating people who cope well with the unexpected.
Otherwise, this is a good tale of the ROF universe, well worth the reading.

However, at the end it felt incomplete.
It seemed like there's a sequel coming soon.
