When people say the laces are horrible I agree. They are thick and grippy for military style laces, and OUT OF THE BOX THEY WILL NOT lace properly. I do not know why Danner put such a horrendous lace in here, but it does not matter because the boot itself makes up for it. Alas those are just the laces, most people complain about the lacing system and not the lace itself.
The fact is that the system itself is fine. This is a military boot with a speed lace system. That means the laces are not intended to go below top eyelet. Actually many people tie off the laces at the top off the boot. The idea behind speed laces is that you should be able grab the end of the laces and tighten the boot from top to bottom in on pull. With the proper technique, and after rubbing some of the eyelet paint off that can be achieved.
The second thing you often hear is that the boots are hard to remove. Most people put on the boot for the first time expecting them to be perfect, and that just isn't right. I will say that they are as close to "Out of the box" perfect as you can get, but ultimately they will need to be broken in.
The fact is that these boots are made to be an extension of ones leg. They are supposed to fit snug, because in the field the wearer has to be able to continue on with the mission if the laces are ripped, stretched, or untied. After breaking the boots in properly, removing and inserting the foot will become easier. That said lets get to the good stuff.
THIS IS THE BEST BOOT I HAVE EVEN WORN!!! Alright maybe not the best.Read more ›
I had them for one month and a chunk of leather on the toe came off. I just wear them on weekends, so I had worn them maybe 10 times total over the month I had them.
Called Danner and after sending the boots in for a warranty evaluation I was informed that because I wore the boots on concrete they were not covered under warranty. "These boots are military boots and made to be worn on dirt and stuff not concrete" is what they told me. What a joke.
Danner is not the same company it used to be. I have had at least 5 other pairs of Danners and this would never have happened in the past.
I plan to avoid Danner all together in the future.
i have wide feet
with that being said it fit awesome for my right foot
the uppers are really comfortable
the foot bed is rather narrow on both sides it was better when another insole was added, but not enough for me to keep them.
i where a 12w in issue boots 13 in tennis shoes
i ordered 12EE and length was perfect width was not enough
