• Very comfortable
• Water Resistant
• Sizing (they run large)
• They are very warm
I have had zero issues with the water resistance of the boots so far. My job requires hiking for many miles over varying terrain and I did not want to worry about having wet socks. So, I ran a little experiment the first week I received the boots. I stood with them on in a few puddles with depths of 2 – 3 inches of water. For a few minutes, I stood there; occasionally stomping my feet, kicking back in forth, or pacing, just to see if I could make the boots leak. After my experiment, I was very pleased to find that my socks had stayed dry.
Other reviews have recommended ordering a size down and so would I. These boots do run a tad large. Normally I wear a size 14 boot but went with 13 EE in these and they fit perfectly! I have a wide foot and found that size 13 was just a little too tight for my liking so that is why I chose the EE version. If you have a narrower foot you may find the regular size 13 to fit better.
These boots are incredibly comfortable straight out of the box. I found that the only portion of the boot needing breaking in time was around the ankle. On my pair, the ankles were a little stiff and caused some discomfort, but this vanished after 2-3 days of wear. One other thing to note is that these boots are fairly warm. They may not be the ideal summer boot for some people, depending on your preference. However, I still wear mine in the summer as the comfort and water resistance outweigh the negatives.
I have worn these boots for over a year now and they show no sign of falling apart. They have stood up to hiking through mud, rock, prairies, woods, etc. tallying up hundreds of miles. However, I do clean these fairly regularly and do my best to not beat them to death. That being said, I in no way baby these boots. I bought them to keep up with my busy life style and job and they have performed wonderfully.
I highly recommend these boots. If you are in the market for a boot that can keep you comfortable, dry, and last for years, then these are the boots for you. From strolling down main street, to climbing mountains, these boots have got you covered.
I have to say that these live up to everything that is said about them, and, knowing what I know now, would probably have ponied up the full retail. Outstanding comfort right out of the box. Normally wear an 11EE, but decided to stick with an 11 D, and the fit is perfect. There is plenty of room in the foot so I don't feel like I'm straining the sides, and can wear a heavy boot sock if needed. The day after they arrived, we were hit with a brutal couple weeks of snow and ice, frigid, below zero temps and brutal, bone chilling wind chills. My job requires daily outdoor trekking across our company campus, with little protection from the elements. The Danner's kept my feet cozy warm, dry and firmly planted in the worst of the wintry mess I had to trek through. Sneaker comfortable from the first time I put them on. Water, snow, sludge, all just roll off of the exterior. Never got "hot foot" when indoors for long periods of time. Truly, an exceptional pair of footwear. Plan on keeping them well maintained with the Danner boot creme.(Spoiler, the boot creme is actually cheaper on the Danner web site), and expect to have them for a long, long time!
