In this installment, Darcy is fascinated by the story of the Titanic, and you know what that means....a reference to the blockbuster movie! Of course Lizzy sobs and Darcy as a male questions the historical inaccuracies. But the truth is the story captivates him nonetheless and the majority of the book has us in a dream sequence where Darcy, Lizzy, and other recognizable characters from P&P take on the roles of those aboard the Titanic. Well really you could see the parallels between the true historical characters as well as the ones from the film along with our P&P characters but others like Lydia are simply Lydia.
What I found fascinating with the author's take is how seamlessly she blended these characters in here. I could so picture Kathy Bates in the role of Charlotte and maybe Billy Zane as Wickham. But at the end of the day, I could only picture Colin Firth as "Jack" or Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as "Rose" or Lizzy. But that's just me. I loved how the Bingleys ended up being that elderly couple from Titanic...you know the one. :(
But what I loved most is that despite the well known story, it was still a Darcy and Elizabeth story. And slight spoiler alert....Ms. O Hara rectified a decades old debate about Rose and a certain door. She rectified it to my satisfaction and the story had a much happier ending here. Sigh.
Now, based on the ending I'm guessing this isn't the last of the Timeless series. And I foresee our couple heading to Disney World? Hmmm. If so, color me excited since that is my second home!
Looking forward to more!
