Wow! Parker's style of writing packed as much detail in this novella as most would a full novel. Nothing felt rushed & as the reader, I didn't feel that I missed out on anything. The characters are well developed & the plot is realistic. The chemistry between Tanner & Abby is sexy, intense & hot! Parker did a wonderful job of incorporating this story into the Dare to Love world. Excellent book!
This is a short read, but it packs a punch! It's also got the added bonus of Tanner's 'babysitter' Mitch - a man I'd love to hear more about! I really hope Parker decides to revisit the Dare World .... because her first trip was definitely a success!
I had never read anything by Parker Kincade before reading Dare’s Wild. I have since bought the Shadow Maverick Ranch bundle and Southern Heat.
Tanner Wild has just signed with Ian Dare’s Miami football team. For Tanner there are major stipulations. Tanner has lived up to the “Wild” side while playing on the west coast. It will no longer be allowed.
Left with no other choice, Tanner needs to find a home to get away the temptations of his past. House hunting becomes House haunting. The woman that is to find him a home, is the woman he destroyed before leaving for college.
Abby isn’t happy. Tanner crushed her heart. Tanner destroyed her future. Walking away hurt Tanner more than he expected. “Wild” was a way to hide, not feel.
Second chances make for great romances. Second chances create bridges to heal. Second chances give people strength. Second chances give us hope.
Tanner will do anything to keep playing the sport he loves, even if it means moving back home to Miami and finally facing his ex.
Abby is in a panic. She's pretty sure she's about to be fired from her real estate job, she won't be able to pay her bills, and she'll have to join her parents in Arizona if she wants a new job.
When her boss tells her he isn't firing her, but instead giving her the job of finding Tanner a home, again, Abby panics. This is the same man who not 10 years earlier broke her heart when he broke up with her, after being her one and only boyfriend throughout all 4 years of high school. Can these two repair their relationship and start over, or will they never find happiness with each other again.
While I liked this short story, I think it could have been so much better if it had been longer. For instance, the author never mentions that Tanner and Abby were engaged, until Tanner goes digging for the ring that Abby threw back at him after he broke her heart. Another was that Tanner claimed to have written this long apology speech, but when given the chance, he never gives it. Just chalks his behavior up to teenage overinflated ego, and Abby is okay with that. Had this been longer, their relationship and the trust that had been lost would have had a chance to be hashed out and dealt with, instead of the rush job we get here.
That being said, the chemistry and subsequent sex scenes were smokin hot! Both characters grew and changed, and that's hard to do in a short story. Overall, this is a good addition to the Dare World.
