Seemingly taking place after the end of Lux, Dare Me is told in Dare Dubray's POV and yet, I'm still not sure what is real and what is not. He is with Calla, his love, and together they 'meet each other' again and talk about being free. Dare always seemed to be the sensible one, the one who would release Calla from her bad thoughts. Never did he seem delusional but I'm still not 100 percent sure. And even though there is a semblance of real cognitive awareness, we honestly don't know if it is reality or not. And that once again is the beauty of this story line.
Certainly not a standalone in my opinion, I suggest you read Nocte, Verum and Lux first and experience this wild ride for yourself. It's filled with deep emotion and a sad but true love that is Dare and Calla. It's beautifully written and it will honestly blow your mind.
Courtney Cole, my therapist bill is once again on it's way to you.
5 solid stars.
That doesn't keep him away from her, it brings them closer together. There are some lovely and steamy moments between Calla and Dare in this novella and it was a great addition to this series.
Perfectly sized for when you want a quick read!
They can't keep us apart.
I hope she knows that.
I didn’t realize till Courtney wrote this book and I read it that I realized how much I wanted this book! Dare is one of my favorites and despite how short it was I still loved it. I hope she considers writing more books like Nocte. Excellent read!
In true Courtney Cole fashion, she combines just the perfect amount of awesomeness and slight insanity, yet I can honestly say that even if you haven't read the Nocte Trilogy yet (and really, what are you waiting for??) you will still enjoy Dare Me in a big way. Dare and Calla have a very special relationship and getting a glimpse of Dare's perspective is just such a treat! And Dare is HOT! And he's got an accent! So there's that. And the love they have for each other is deep. But I cannot say any more. This is a story you must read and learn on your own. It's all the fun!
Thank you again Courtney Cole, for delivering this masterpiece of a novella as part of your Hot Shots! I cannot wait to see what your brilliant, slightly crazy, mind has in store next for your readers!
I just love those two. They're so in love and so adorable and so broken and it's all so beautifully sad and moving.... I kind of never want this series to end.
And now I will quote something from my review of book #3 LUX:
This is such an amazing series - I never read anything like it before. I JUST LOVE IT!
Even though I constantly, completely, have no idea what's going on ☺☺☺ CONFUZZLED ☺
END QUOTE ☺
I wish Hollywood would come knocking on Courtney's door. This would be an amazing TV Show!
Oh, and PS - before y'all are giving some bad stars to the book - it's SHORT - as in VERY SHORT! It's a HOTSHOT novella. So ... please remember before complaining! ☺
Dare is drop dead swoon-worthy...exhibit A, that cover! DAMN, girl lets just take a moment to admire that rock hard body. *Pause for appreciation* Okay, moving on...I loved everything about this novella. It was a really quick read and gave me an insight back into the madness. Dare is the perfect combination of gentleman and man. Calla is the perfect combination of trusting and naive and together their relationship is tantalizing and intoxicating. I can't wait for more!
I do highly recommend reading this after you read the entire series because I feel this will take away from the whole premise of the Nocte trilogy.
Courtney does a superb job of giving us a novella from Dare's POV and what he went through with Calla. You want to see how powerful and true Dare's love for Calla is - read this!
I love the mystery that still surrounds this and their story. Courtney keeps it quick yet still mysterious and intriguing.
Fantastic novella that keeps us hooked in their story!
