He is a fencing champion prince and she is an expert on antiques. Isn't that great? I can't deny that the reason why the prince has to marry was a little unreasonable, but the chapters flow so fluidly and are so fun that I can't complain.
I liked how the prince is introduced, that he is handsome but also intent on being the best champion and symbol for his country. I also liked that she is pretty but not overly so and that her passion for antiques makes her more desirable in the stunned eyes of the prince.
Far from clichés, this couple's relationship is fun, cute, full of hot times at the right moment and characters who feel a growing attraction that encounters a few bumps but finally blooms into a very pretty romance. I enjoyed it a lot.
Humour is key to Alexis though she inevitably falls in love with a man without it because he's not only gorgeous, but thoughtful and brave. He might be cautious about love because of a past incident, but he still falls in love with a woman devoted to her job, who is funny, joyful and good.
Yes, it's a really pretty story with a lively pace, an adorable couple and elements of mystery, comedy and smut. Lovely.
(I'm happy to share my honest opinion of this arc)
Tara Wylde and Holly Hart have hit it out of the park AGAIN!! Put these two authors together and BAM an amazing story is bound to come out of it! I have been a huge fan of Holly's for quite awhile and now I am a huger (I know not word but...) fan of this great team up!
I couldn't put this book down, just ask my husband, I woke him up with my Kindle light as I was reading at (ahem) 2:30am! Sorry honey!
Prince (yes, a real prince) Lucas and Alexis (an American) sizzle and spark and finally laugh together on the pages. There is plenty of steaminess and sassiness and bad jokes and suspense in this page-turner that I cannot wait for these two authors to team up again and give us at least one more story together, please!!
I received this Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Do not miss this book or their other book Her Seal, they are both incredible reads!
Well done Tara and Holly!! Well done!
Lucas and Alexis, are each determined, independent, strong willed individuals. Though each has been hurt or disappointed in their lives. For this reason, they each hold back, when it comes to matters of the heart. As the main characters, their conversations are very good, realistic. Good banter, intelligent, even humorous and awkward from time to time. This serves as being endearing.
Prince Lucas falls prey to those closest to him, to wed within 30 days. The days seem to go by too fast for Lucas who can't seem to find a woman that he'd even want to be around for any extended period of time.
Meanwhile, the Queen ( Lucas's mother), is busy trying to find the right experienced, company and person, to work with on appraising the nation of Moravia's antiquities. She is thinking of maybe establishing a national museum. The Queen contacts Alexis' bff, Tessa, the owner of the company. Tessa is feeling ill, so sends Alexis in her place.
Alexis is all business, full of knowledge and enthusiasm, even a passion for antiquities. She is a bit awkward when it comes to social graces, not to mention royal court protocol. Alexis pays no mind to Prince Lucas. She gets right down to business categorizing and researching Moravia's antiquities.
Prince Lucas gets back to preparing to be the best fencing representative for the sport, for his country. Lucas is determined to work hard to win a birth on his country's Olympic Fencing team. But it seems that Alexis keeps popping into his mind, even at inappropriate times. Too bad she seemed unimpressed by Lucas. For reasons he doesn't understand Lucas is determined to ask this American commoner The big question.
Alexis just has to get onboard. Can these two find common ground? Will they be able to overcome their obvious differences?
This story has it all, strong characters, a good plot, good, realistic and at times funny dialogue. The banter between Lucas and Alexis gets better throughout the story. Of course there are not and steamy scenes too.
I'm so glad I read this book, I really enjoyed it.
The secondary characters are essential, and each plays an important role in the story to make it work.
That said, the royal romances were cute with generally well-developed characters. But, again. The stories are short and that seriously irritated me. I've read three "books" and I'm only 49% of the way through the file on my Kindle. I feel cheated out of the story I thought I was buying.
