Girls' party craft was a hit!

I threw my daughters an American Girl Doll Party and one of the things we did was make jewelry for the dolls and for the girls, as they pleased. All the girls loved this part and I had bought some special little jewels to go along with the beads but many of the girls didn't even want the jewels but only the beads. They played with it all for a long time longer than I had anticipated. The girls' ages were from nine to thirteen but they all loved it just the same. A couple of the girls were really quiet during the rest of the party but when it came time for this they really came out of their shells and jumped into the fun with everyone else. When I told them it was time for cake some of the girls still wanted to stay back and continue making their jewelry. This 'Big" bag is true to it's word and even after having a dozen girls go crazy with their jewelry making we still have plenty left to have more fun craft days at home. I used various types of string for the jewelry but the girls seemed to like the elastic thread best for bracelets and the straight craft string best for the necklaces. I think the girls may have ended up with more jewelry than the dolls did but so long as they had fun it was a success!

I recently started making Kandi bracelets with my daughter but since we're currently in Puerto Rico its been hard to find the colors we want at our 2 local walmarts so instead of making frequent trips only to be dissapointed because the colors we were looking for happen to be out I opted for a 1lb mixed bag of opaque beads. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of colors. I just wish they had another bag of colors that aren't commonly found like different shades of brown, beige, grey, light blue, hot pink etc. Maybe like a bag of skin tones? Or different shades of every color. I knocked off one star because they were a bit smaller than the box of beads I got from Walmart. But I sorted them & there were a good number of every color & I only found a broken bead piece & a few plastic pieces. I am happy with the variety & quality of the assortment overall.

There were an overwhelming amount of green and not as much as the other colors but that is to be expected. There were only like four beads that were broken however so I wasn't too fussed and so far none have broken on my kandi bracelets. At first I was scared of the creme color because I had no idea what to do with it but it is a really nice, complementary color.

I really really love this lot of beads. I've boughten two other 'BIG' bags, but these colors just completely blow the other ones out of the water. This selection is bright and vibrant, perfect for all kids. The bag is very big and very full. I mixed these beads with two other bags, the opaque colors and pearilzed colors. By far this selection was the brightest and best. The kids instantly were attracted to the neon ones from this bag. The plastic aspect makes them very durable and lightweight. Great for kids jewelry. The wholes are big enough to fit any jewelry string easily, so even young children can bead with these fairly easily.

A Few Tips:
If you have a group of kids you can poor these out onto a plate, that way they can dig through them easily and find the colors they want conveniently without reaching hands into a bag and blocking other kids.
You can use ribbon, wire, pipe cleaners, even hair tyes to make bracelets and necklaces. The kids I work with just adore getting creative with all sorts of things.

I chose this product for 2 reasons. I liked the glitter and I liked the variety of color that was pictured. The glittered beads are a home run, but under normal house lighting, I only saw 3 colors. I upgraded my review after seeing there really is 6 colors there. I love the glitter and quality. I would like to see more intensity in the one that I assume is orange.

I ordered the neon multicolor. So many questions as to how many beads... I counted..pink 322, green 307, purple 280, orange 325, blue 305, yellow 273 for a total of 1,812. I usually buy thus Darice brand because it tends to be cheaper, plus different brands have different shades of each color so I try to stick with the same brand.

Going to be fun using these for crafts. I wish they were made out of glass and not plastic. I like that they are the same size not like the seed beads they sell on Amazon. The seed beads are not good, but the pony beads are. I hope they will start to make them with glass and not plastic.
