my wife and i are avid gardeners, who regularly use green paddle wire, both for foliage management to making & hanging wreaths and garland, as well as, we find it very useful for hanging winter (Christmas) lighting... and, it is great for picture hanging.
it cuts easily with small wire cutters or bonsai pruners (scissors/trimmers), which we use and found the following set of 5 to be very effective for cutting paddle wire, heavy thread/cord, and many other uses, as well: GUZON Bonsai Pruners Pruning Shears for Bud&Leaves Trimmer 5PCS ... these work perfectly and are a great value @ 5 for $6.99! OR the following micro-cutters work wonderfully and are also a great option to keep with the paddle wire: Xuron 170-II Micro-Shear Flush Cutter
lastly, this paddle wire is a terrific value @ $6.39 for ~220 ft.! :-)
Contrary to another reviewer's experience, I did NOT find it necessary to use wire cutters. I was able to easily cut it with my steel sewing scissors. When those went MIA in the middle of the decor mess, the kids' safety scissors worked. (Although the it took a little more effort.)
The plastic coating is firm and won't come off very easy.
Know your gauge though, this stuff is thin, but it's going onto my HO layout
in which case this could serve as a garden hose almost!
It's exactly what I expected and a bit better.
