Kat is moving forward. She’s leave her old life behind and is on her way to a fresh start. A start without a new guy every few weeks. A new town, new state, new start, new Kat. She’s about to start with all of those new philosophies until she meets the sexy and smooth talking guy at the bar while waiting for her flight. The flight taking her to the fresh beginning. She knows she shouldn’t but she can’t help be tempted by this man and his sexy swagger. One more quick fling couldn’t hurt, right? Or could it…
Eric could use a distraction and the woman sitting at the bar giving him the sultry once-over seems to be just what the doctor ordered. Even better is that she doesn’t seem to be recognizing him from his fame in the racing circuit. It was refreshing to have someone being attracted to him for him, and not his fame and money. Just one taste is all he’d need….but he will soon realize he was dead wrong.
What happened when karma intervenes and takes what Kat and Eric thinks is a one night fling and turns it into more than they ever thought possible?
I have two words for you: Smoking. Hot. This story started out with one hell of a heated bang (heh, quite literally!) and just got better and better. The attraction between Kat and Eric was fast and hot and I loved it but what I loved even more was when a monkey wrench was thrown into their plan of making it a one night thing. I loved when they realized they would in no way, shape, or form be able to stay away from one another. I loved that they tried hard to fight it but had no choice but to give in. These two characters were so well written and multi-faceted and I enjoyed them tremendously. They have both been burned in the past and aren’t looking to rush into things but are willing to give what they’ve found a chance.
Another aspect Ms. Foster added into this story was a bit of hidden history Kat and Eric shared that they didn’t realize right away but when they did? Magic. It really cemented the universe’s plan in getting these two to admit their connection is one to keep and cherish.
It bears repeating that Ms. Foster knocked my socks off and gained a new fan in this blogger! I can’t wait to start from the very beginning and meet the whole Braden clan!
I am so happy that Kat Martin got her own story. We all met her in book 6: Hearts At Play. Kat was best friends with Brianna and godmother of her daughter Layla. Since book 6 with Brianna and Hugh Branden (approx. 4 years), Kat is moving forward with a new life for herself. With self examination and a lot of soul searching, she has left her job as bartender/waitress in Richmond, VA and with her new degree; she is reinventing herself as a PR consultant.
Kat was going to Colorado to meet with Brianna and have her take photos for her website and portfolio. While waiting for her flight in the airport bar, she is drawn to a man, Eric James and they have a little tryst. Kat heads for her plane and leaves Eric behind, so she thought. Eric is on the same flight to Colorado and he takes advantage to talk with her when can’t run away.
As the book unfolds, we find out that Kat has a lot baggage from her dad leaving her and her mom and then her husband left her and wanted nothing to do with their daughter, Layla. Kat has decided that she no longer wants a tryst with strangers, even Eric because she knows he has been a player for a long time. Kat wants what her best friend Brianna has with her husband Hugh Braden, her soul mate. As it turns out, Eric is best friends with Hugh Braden so they are spending the week-end together and under the same roof.
Even though this is a short story, the characters are well developed and the story line is really good. Don’t miss out on this book. You won’t regret it.
As a fan of Melissa Foster's work, I loved getting a peek I to the Braden's current life, while reading a fantastic story about Eric and Kat. From start to finish this book captivated my interest and did not let go. The chemistry and connections between each character was a welcomed reminder of why I love this series. Melissa has an uncanny ability to intricately weave her storyline from past to present, while creating a sense for wanting more in the future! I can't wait to read more about this amazing series.
The sex is steamy & hot! The relationship is explosive. Neither of them want anything to interfere with their friendships with Hugh and Brianna. Does Kat manage to change the player’s ways? Or does Eric manage to get Kat to stay on the bad side?
Another great Melissa Foster read! Complex characters & relationships, great story line and lots of action.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
As soon as I finished this book, I actually told some of the women in my book discussion group that I felt like I was "floating on a big sexy cloud." A ridiculous description, but very appropriate. The book was that good. I really admired Eric's determination to win Kat's heart and shatter every preconceived notion that she had about him. I also liked the cameo appearances of my favorite Bradens from previous books. Even if you haven't read the other books, you can dive right in and read this one as a standalone. The only thing I disliked about this book was that it was over so quickly. I knew it was a novella and not that long, but I was so caught up in the story that I lost track of the page numbers. I wasn't ready for it to be over. I hope I get to hear about Eric and Kat more in future books.
