I prefer names I can easily pronounce, and I'm not much into mystical powers, but it kept me interested throughout.
The book stayed in my thoughts for a couple of days after I finished reading it. I missed being able to read more.
It's a very well written book.
I found the perspective on the different religions to be very thought provoking.
Lots and lots of characters for multiple plot-lines in subsequent volumes, but really, by about halfway through I realized I didn't care about any of them. This isn't Robert Jordan or George R.R. Martin. I hope Mr. Lee hasn't quit his day job.
Even though this book had a slow start it still held my interest. I feel like Myrren made friends too easily, but there may be an answer in a later book. I read a lot of fantasy books but Dark Heart reminds me the most of the Wheel of Time series. The story starts with one viewpoint and when the characters split ways, they each have a part of the story to tell.
Along the way she meets people and friends of various morality and intent that help her towards the discovery of a long lost magic item that promises glorious things for the future of the world.
It's pretty much exactly what you want when you're looking for a fantasy novel to read, plus it comes with the promise of sequels!
