DARK LOVE may be a bit dark, but it's also a great romance story with some steamy sex scenes. I love dark romances so this was not offensive to me. J. B. Duvane manages to weave a grippingly dark and twisted plot with artfully developed main characters. The characters of Charlotte and Raymond both have dreadful pasts. Charlotte’s single father was abusive to her, did not love her, and always wished she died instead of her mother. Charlotte worked as an exotic dancer to support her abusive father and herself in their rundown trailer home. Although Raymond came from money, he was just as disturbed. Raymond was raised in an isolated part of the mansion by his mentally unstable mother. His did not feel his mother loved him, and she did not want him to love another woman. When Raymond meets Charlotte, he finds himself quite attracted to Charlotte and he has to have her. Little does Raymond and Charlotte know that their life is about to change! This is a disturbing dark romance with intrigue, suspense, and passion continues to keep you glued to the pages of this fascinating story. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The book will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end. So do yourself a favor and buy this book, you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to read the next book, Part Two.

#MSBB - I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book
Charlotte is unhappy with her life barely scraping by as an exotic dancer living in a trailer with her abusive father. A means of escape is opened up to her one night when a mystery VIP books Charlotte for a private performance and pays her over $1000. Unfortunately, Charlotte is kidnapped as she's leaving for a new life.
Raymond, the mystery VIP, has been raised in isolation in a wing of a massive estate by a mentally unstable mother. Raymond thought he could never love a woman other than his mother, but from the moment he saw Charlotte, he knew she was the one and had to have her.
Dark Love is a suspenseful story about two broken people who are drawn to each other, getting to know each other while living on an estate full of hidden passages, rooms and cupboards that only the mysterious and mutinous servants know about. JB Duvane has written a gripping page turner and I can't wait to read Part 2.
A kinkier version of Beauty and the Beast - 5 stars
First off, I like the cover for the book! I don't think I've ever read a book like this, where the one POV is present day and the other POV starts from many years earlier. Some of the things that you will read in this book are disturbing and make you wonder just what these two very broken people have been through that they keep hidden away in the dark that we don't get to see. Although I wanted to hate Raymond for what he does, he's not really the monster he sees himself as. I can hardly wait for the second book, to see how this plays out.

This book is quick to read and will pull you in... before you know you've come to the last chapter and are anxiously awaiting to see the conclusion and to know what other dark acts are coming.
