Format: Audio CD
Super catchy album from the kings of catchy, with Empire being the track that is stuck in my head the most. Stylistically, it feels like it falls between their last album and Laurie's solo album - it's a little more "out there" than Rasmus albums have been, but not as different as the Laurie album. Not a bad thing, though. I enjoy that you can play their albums back to back and follow the natural progression of sound, like watching a species evolve. The lyrics are a little less heavy on this one than on many of their other albums, but they did manage a reference to voices in the darkness (Something in the Dark), wolves in the snow (Silver Night), and plenty of allusions to heartbreak (though more often it's the song's protagonist that seems to be guilty, rather than being the one left behind) so you can still see their usual lyrical inspirations, just a little less of them as they expand to new subjects, like the superhero influence (Wonderman and Dragons into Dreams.) It is a little short, clocking in at only 35 minutes, but then I always want more, so...
