Again, there was little serious interaction between Lizzy and Jared for long stretches -- he seems good at calling and saying he'll be out of town for some period of time and Lizzy goes on her way. I really like the development of Haley and Jessica as well. In many ways, they have become the focus of the stories.
Side note: When I picture Haley in my mind I can't help but have a picture of Negasonic Teenaged Warhead from the Deadpool movie (played by Brianna Hildebrand). I think the personalities are a great match. If they ever make a movie from this series I hope they give Brianna a call for Haley's role.
Probably what I liked best were the quotes from real killers saying why, how, or their feelings when they killed. The real surprise at the last was that the beginning was a little twisted. Maybe the reason for the quotes, to let the reader understand a little about what a real killer might be thinking.
Even though it isn't the best, I'd still recommend reading it.
It is one disturbing serial killer book. Be warned that there is graphic violence, necrophilia and just all kinds of warped thinking/doing from the Lovebird Killer.
My favorite characters are back - Lizzy, Jared, Hayley and Jessica - and Tommy has been added. Super job on defining the characters this time around. I'm starting to feel like I know them all.
At the beginning of each chapter, there is a quote from a real-life serial killer and that really helps set the macabre mood.
This is one of the best serial killer novels I've read. Just be prepared to keep the lights on and the doors locked.
There are a lot of POV, but I liked that. I like that we get into the heads of the killer, Lizzy, Jared, Jessica and Haley. The book is fast paced, the action moves right along.
The killer situation gets resolved, but we are left with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end regarding Haley (that poor girl has been through the ringer). So I am assuming (hoping) that this means there will be a fourth book. Actually I hope the Lizzy books keep coming for a long time.
Great job Ms. Ragan!
