It is the story of Ben, an operative for Decorah Security. The company is hired to find the missing sister of their client. Of course Ben and the client mix it up along the way.
As a mystery/detective novel it is pretty good. The story has the operatives from Decorah as each having some kind of supernatural power. Ben is some kind of psychic, a fellow operative Cole turns out to be a werewolf. Surprisingly, in retrospect, that worked as a story line better than it sounds.
There is plenty of moderately kinky sex along the way that has little to do with the story itself. I did not find it especially offensive.
There are some twists and turns along the way with corrupt police and politicians of a small resort town trying to keep the missing girl story off the radar to avoid having it affect the tourist trade. They are also running some kind of criminal enterprise on the side.
All in all, a satisfying story. I don't think I would want a constant diet of this type of story though. I sort of prefer a straight mystery/thriller without the sex thrown in.
Ms York is a creative master when it comes to unusual paranormal romance
and once again she did not let her fans down.
Dark Powers opens up with hard and exciting action, that I was hooked three Lines into the book.
This story is filled will corruption, sex slaves, a sister who want to play P.I and Ben's past keep plaguing
him if a wonder if this case get solved.
The ending will make you run to the book store, but don't take my word for it read I for yourself.
I am given it a 3.9 stars
