Daisy Luther and Selco have brought tremendous value in publishing this work. "The Dark Secrets of SHTF Survival" delivers exactly that! For those of us blessed to have lived in stable society, but wish to be prepared for any contingencies, Selco has explained the realities of day to day life in a world without rule of law. Little things that are contrary to many popular beliefs offer nuances that have profound effects. One of many examples would be if someone tried to bribe a person of power with a gold coin, the "man with the gun" would likely wonder how many more you may have and take whatever is on your person. However should you take the ring off your finger and offer it as a gold bribe, the likelihood of you having any more is far diminished and they are less likely to "shake you down," but instead let you pass. Better to have 5 rings in your pockets than even a single gold coin.

While there are some clear editing issues, Selco speaks in his own words which delivers powerful first person value. A few typos do arise, but an easy read which will surely inspire you to think in new ways with far deeper dimensions. 10 Stars for content, 4 stars for editing. A Must have for anyone serious about knowing what "could happen" and how to respond.

This book isn't With the Old Breed, or Fields of Fire, but it WILL blow the moss off any romantic notions preppers have of surviving urban SHTF/WROL collapse. His situation was more akin to perhaps Leningrad, he being an unprepared civilian in a city besieged by military force, but the lessons are relevant to the conditions that could result from an overwhelming natural disaster or the socioeconomic implosion that preppers like to postulate. Selco's English isn't the best, and the book needed a better editor and better proofreading. It's also not a long book, being printed in large type. I view it as a work of catharsis, helping him deal with what he saw, what he did, and the long, long aftermath.

I've been a student and follower of Selco Begovic for awhile now. I bought his audio download several years ago and look forward to reading his articles online. I was very happy to see he had finally put together a book of his experiences and advice and I was not disappointed... it was all I hoped it would be and more. I gave it five stars in spite of the minor grammatical errors because, like I said, I've read his offerings for years and if it were perfectly edited and grammatically precise, it wouldn't sound authentic; it just wouldn't be Selco. I am thanking him now because if the sh*t actually does hit the fan, I may not have the opportunity later. Thank you, sir. I hope we meet on the other side.

Almost unreadable. As a follower long ago, I was excited to hear about Selco releasing a book. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed in the format of the writing and the lack of content. The format of the print has very wide margins and the font is large. The book could have easily been 1/3 this thick. This leaves you with the feeling of disappointment right away. The book barely scratches the surface, or go into any type of detail at all. I am not sure if this is just lost in translation, but it's unfortunate. It seemed to me to be a book about vague generalizations about SHTF conditions but lacks serious substance.

This is a "been there, done that" account of what happens when society collapses around you. Nothing is sugarcoated and there is no theory or speculation or untested "what if" scenarios. It's raw humanity adapting to the breakdown of norms and mores - civilization as we understand it completely upended. A truly sobering read - much food for thought. Definitely couldn't put it down.

This book is a total rip-off.

The format & font are over size as is the spacing. It really is a 30pg book.

It has only a very few of Selco's old on-line (and free!) articles.

Selco closed down his old forum and join up with this Daisy Luther, you know, the one who has her name on every single page.

In the end he sold out and made a cheap book on what use to be his good name.

Avoid at all costs. Waste of money.

Yes, yes. I know editor Daisy Luther's argument that the author's first language is not English. But one of the tasks of an editor is to enhance the author's credibility, yes? Shirking the task of identifying and correcting spellings and poor sentence structure is simply irresponsible sloppiness, e.g.:
"How all this exactly can help me?" (page 14)
"We are still very easy to manipulate with through [sic] the media." (page 18).
"I choose my points of information the on [sic] the internet..." (page 26).
"...is more important to have one more month of food stored or one more skill learned then [sic] to waste time..." (page 43)
"You end up waiting to wait for correct information..." (page 54) Huh?
"I call it 'survival mode' (no, it is not invented by me), and it means that you at some point based on your own observations, feelings, the situation around you, events, etc going to are [sic] going to jump into that mode where you gonna implement actions based on different priorities than everyday life." (page 69)
"When times are hard, people show all kinds of their characteristics or their real face. Call it whatever you like." (page 87). Um..., well, that was profound!
I could go on.
Mr. Begovic, if you write another book which will be published in English, I suggest you look for another editor.

Since this is a firsthand account, the imperfect English adds to the storytelling..it's a raw account of his experiences. I like the tell-it-like-it-is approach, very educational. I would hardly call myself a "prepper" but I do appreciate the value of being prepared, and do have some preps, but this book compels me to keep adding to my supplies each time I run errands, even if it is only for a box of matches or a lighter. At the very least, reading this book will help give you the right mindset of how things can go in a SHTF situation, not some romanticized view from tv or movies.
