the book is good from the cover to the last page
you will be amazed of the deep details
the book divided to section like area walkthrough step by step. Boss and foes slaying tactics. items and lores deep info’s and a lot more like convents and online session guides
But
my only concern that the book didn’t tell anything about the hidden walls.in the last giant forest there is a hidden wall that the book didn’t mention.
maybe me i skipped reading this section or the writers forgot it . also am still at my early steps of the game. and i might misjudged this part "correct me please
also. i really found this book losing it charm once you are aware of the well-known duded on youtube called Epic Name Bro ”ENB” he is one of the editors of this book, he uploaded a whole deep walkthrough of the game. That’s where you feel you already know everything of the game without paying a penny for the book
But
the book worth it for much much much deep info inside it, beside the epic look and feeling of the book itself on your desk beside your DS2 collector’s edition statue
The book deserve 5 stars indeed
Excuse me for the week English typos. English is my second language
Enjoy the game

If you have the Dark Souls 1 Collector's Edition Strategy Guide, you should know what to expect out of this one.
If you're new to the Souls games, you should have this book. Yes, you can get a lot of info about the game from the internet, but when you are locked away in your living room or game room and you're playing Dark Souls, you'll feel a lot better about yourself if you have a physical book sitting in front of you and you look up info the old-fashioned way.
This book is jam-packed with just about everything you would ever need to play this game start to finish on your first play through and NG+. I would actually recommend for newcomers to read at least the first chapter before even starting the game. The first time I jumped into Dark Souls 1 I had not read anything about it, and after about 6-8 hours of constantly dieing, killing NPCs that I just assumed were enemies because I was so jumpy, loosing thousands of souls that I could have leveled up with, allocating any points for leveling up just to my health because I thought that was all I needed to do to die less, I gave up on the game. It was too much. Then I bought the CE Strategy Guide and started reading through the first chapter and decided I needed to start over, and I did. And everything was SO MUCH less frustrating.
In reading the Strategy Guide, I was playing so much more efficiently and actually developing decent strategies for handling different types of enemies based on what was in the guide. Being able to study the maps is another great aspect of these guides. The maps can be a little confusing at first, but generally once you make it to a bonfire in whatever area you are in, you can figure out where everything else is based on that location on the map. Extremely helpful to have the book open in front of you while you play.
My skill level went up tremendously after getting that book. Same deal with the DS2 guide. If you want to be less frustrated and feel more like you know what you are doing, get this book. The Souls games are all about trial and error, so you will still die a lot, but your death rate should be reduced quite a bit if you really study this guide.
Now go study! Then play.
And goodness, DS2 is fantastic, right guys? After months and months of no game making any sort of impact on me, DS2 comes along and makes me fall in love with video games all over again. So good.

Very detailed and a lot of pictures. I do like how they added lore with all the monsters and locations. My only complaint is that they didn't add weapon progression tables down. I had to google each one in order to see what type of damage and stat upgrade it would be after spending material.
Also if you were like me and bought this for the re-release of scholar of the first sin, be ready for a lot to have changed. Like the book will tell you to go downstairs and kill a hound in order to loot a chest, then to your surprise it's a huge armored monster that murders you due to the developer changing a lot of the monster spawns.
Over all really good. I am a huge fan of the series and glad to have this book in my possession.

Let's start with the good. Guide makes for a great walk-through of the game. It has decent maps of every area and will hold your hand and lead you from start to finish if that is your thing. The maps of the areas are sometimes complicated and hard to follow but that could be a side-effect of the complex designs of some of the areas. Cover art is amazing and the guide has some other awesome art in it. The guide goes into detail on bosses and list stats for all enemies (something I've rarely used). Most useful I've found the maps, npc listings, new game + information, and achievement/trophy information.
A few things are not mentioned in the guide. For example, certain uses for certain items. I can't seem to find anywhere in the guide where it tells you the rewards for the covenants, which I find very disappointing. If it is in there it's hard to find. Things I would have loved to see. List of illusionary walls separate from the walk-through ( I don't want to read through the whole level's walk-through to find out where I missed an illusionary wall), covenant level up rewards, etc.... My biggest overall complaint is that information in this guide is sometimes hard to find. For example: if you want to join a certain covenant. Look through the npc section to find the covenant overseer, if they require a certain item go find that item in the item list, item is found in XXXXX so you go to that part of the walk-through and look at the map, once you find the item on the map there can always be more to it that just walking up to it, such as some special event that must happen first.
All in all. I'm glad I got the guide. It looks nice and has lots of information in it. Sadly it's much easier to search the internet for the locations of illusionary walls, king's doors, etc.... Sometimes I ask myself why buy guides when you can search the internet. The answer (for me) is the maps the guide offers and the easy flipping of pages while I'm playing.

Good guide.

This guide, as is usual with Future Press, has an amazing construction quality. The paper, the organization, the printing and coloring, the art presented, the hardcover, everything about it is perfect.
This guide explains the basics for the newcomers and also gives a walkthrough for enemies, areas and bosses for newcomers.
For veterans, it offers a number a awesome tools to work with. How stats work and interact with each other in order to build the best character for a certain playstyle, or even the detailed maps of all areas with enemies and items, for when you want to clear, complete and unveil every secret after exploring the world by yourself! It also gives awesome information about items which lets players compare them and decide which one will do them best.
As for cons, I found some minor errors (I underline minor) and the price. It could be a good 5-8£ cheaper.
I recommend it for newcomers who would like some help, for veterans who want to work out, with very detail, what stats and items to tinker and play with, as well as for collectors. Its, above everything else, an amazing book with amazing quality and a perfect collector item.
Recommended, but rated it 4/5, not because of the minor bugs that are normal in such a information heavy book, but because of the price that could be lower.

The Best Guide I've Ever Read

This is an awesome guide for an awesome game. Dark Souls 2 is a brilliant adventure with a huge lore filled story that you need to discover on your own (mostly). Not many games can compare to the grandeur and purity of the Souls series but due to its high difficulty and learning curve people tend to avoid it which is a shame. If you haven't played a Souls game yet, please do yourself a favor and buy Dark Souls 2 WITH this guide and once you are a master go back and play Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls (PS3 only). Once your in the Souls community you will never want to leave.
This guide was also co-written by 2 of YouTubes greatest Souls supporters (Marcus Sanders AKA: ENB and Franz Von Eisenheim AKA: A German Spy) They do amazing videos based on the game play and lore of the series and have helped write this guide. If you are new to Souls go check them out right now, they will help guide you through the game.

Fine guide

Excellent guide for an excellent game, unfortunately made a tad redundant by the release of DLC for this game, which, just a few months prior to release, they stated they would NEVER do.
Either way, a great guide for the main game, extremely well made, nice and glossy, great maps and art.

A guide any Dark Souls fan should own.

I'm a huge fan of the souls series, and if you're anything like me, you love a challenge! Which is why I didn't read the guide until completing the game first time. For all the lore, weapons, NPC descriptions and more, this guide is worth every penny. It makes a great change to have everything compiled into one neat, well presented guide, rather than having to scour the internet for your next build and significant lore.
