At more than 4,500 pages, though, it's a daunting read. Even while the story was good, I found myself ready for the last book to be over so I could start some other books I had on hand. The ending is unique, and probably not all that satisfying, after you've spent thousands of pages thinking about how it might end. But as King himself admits, "it's more about the journey than the ending".
I think for anyone who has the time, it's worth reading. You won't ever be sorry to say you finished Stephen King's magnum opus.
