C.S. Lewis is known for both his fictional works and theological treatises. His ability to tell stories and capture truth has led to a continual publication of almost all his works. To this day, The Chronicles of Narnia is still a bestseller for children's literature decades after the last volume was published. With such an interest in his writings, friends and colleagues combed through Lewis' notes after his death in 1963. This resulted in a number of unpublished writings seeing the light of day. Eventually, even unfinished stories began to be sent to the press. The Dark Tower and Other Stories is one of these products.
The book as a whole is composed of one incomplete and four completed short stories. However, the majority of the text is given to an unfinished book which has been given the name - The Dark Tower. With a length of over one hundred pages, this particular story dwells upon a group of professors who find a way to look into another world. Starting as observers, they begin to question what they see on the other side of the screen which holds their gaze. Unfortunately, just as the story begins to take shape, it comes to an abrupt close. Despite some guesses, no one knows how the tale would have ended.
The book is a recommend only for the most devoted fans of Lewis' work. In fact, several of the completed short stories in this book are found in other compilations such as 'Of Other Worlds'. Lastly, the title of this particular book does not give any indication that the contents inside are incomplete works and therefore could serve as a misnomer for many.
