From the Author

My experience writing this book was to say the least, emotional. The events that went on in Ebony's/the main characters life were realistic, heart breaking and raw. Ebony's story will tug at your heart strings as you'll want to protect this girl and slap some sense into her at the same time. It is a completely different read from my other work. The Darker the Berry the Deeper the Roots is drama filled and more realateble to a lot of readers. I wrote the book and I myself am deeply moved whenever I read it. I am proud of this debut and I hope to touch many lives from it.

All i can say is Wowwww! Ms. Queen Brown definately did her thing!! This story as told through the eyes of young Ebony,Took me on a ride that i never wanted to end! It told of the struggles of a young girl who had to navigate through life for the most part on her own, and was desperatly seeking the love and acceptance that always seemed to elude her. I mean i laughed, i cried and i sometimes wanted to throw my kindle! The hardships and abuse she had to endure were heartbreaking at times and i found myself wondering, how could anyone continue to go on after all of that?? I also found myself seriously wanting to hurt that damn Jonah! He was a hot mess and deserved what he had coming to him... Anyway woosah... Lol, so grab this book up ASAP but strap on your seatbelt! Its going to be a hell of a ride Through Ebony's world!! Keep doing you Ms. Queen, and i look forward to reading what you have cooked up for us next! Peace and Blessings <3

All I can say is wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this book:) It started out a little slow, but it wasn't long before I was hooked. The story chronicles a young lady named E (Ebony)and her life experiences. She has a turbulent relationship with her family where she is treated horribly. As she grows up she goes through a few relationships with guys that I fell in love with. These relationships shaped her into a woman and from that she grew. There was love, betrayal, domestic violence, manipulation, family problems, resentment and triumph....all wrapped in one 5 star banger. I loved how this story was told the author made sure she told every detail and didn't leave a thing out about Ebony's life...I cant wait for part 2! If you haven't read this book all I can say is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR"....Please DO NOT sleep on this novel!

The book, The Darker The Berry, The Deeper The Roots, by Queen Brown, focuses on main character Ebony who is a victim of parental neglect and domestic violence. The storyline gives a real life account of The Cycle of Domestic Violence. The beginning is interesting; however, drags for quite awhile. There are some grammar errors that interrupt the reading flow. The story flourishes in the second half of the book and earlier parts could have been shortened. Overall, I rate the book OK!

Wow, where do I begin? " The Darker The Berry, The Deeper The Roots" by Queen Brown explores various levels of sexual, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. Join Ebony as she blossoms from a young girl into a woman and everything in between.
This book brought out a wide range of emotions in me. From laughing to crying to shock, it definitely kept me on my toes. It started off a little bit slow but quickly picked up. I was rooting for Ebony the entire time! Needless to say, this novel gets a 5 star from me! Can't wait to see what's nect from Author Queen Brown!

This book made me nuts! I wanted to strangle Ebony myself! I am not heartless but omg...the situation between her and Jonah was sad and maddening at the same time. I found myself talking to the book while reading! I have never been in a situation like that but I can only pray I would handle it better. Her childhood was tough and I know it shaped her...but we as parents need to do better for our kids and family members need to come together when wrong is done...not push it under the rug. No wonder she grasped at love so eagerly! I was on the verge of tears one minute and yelling in my head the next! Jonah has issues that medication alone can't fix! I am glad she finally took a stand...but looks like she will still be grasping for love in the sequel with Qu' ran. She needs to take some time out to love Ebony and focus on her son. Unfortunately, there are plenty of Ebony's out there experiencing the same things. While this book may seem too extreme or dramatic for some.... others won't flinch because ours the story of their lives. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because a woman in this situation .... should not be thinking of getting another man so quickly after all she has endured...and it looks like that's where it's going to head in the sequel.... but it is definitely 5 star potential! Couldn't put it down! Only one way to know for sure... sequel here I come! Lol

This story was a deep and emotional read. The main character Ebony went through a lot of heartache throughout her young life. When you read about her struggles it brings to mind the hardships of a seasoned woman who has led a hard life. From her drug addicted mother to her uninterested father and mean old grandmother, Ebony couldn't get a break. This led her to make many bad decisions and to seek love in all the wrong places.

Reading this book brought to mind the movie The Color Purple. Celie in the movie went through a lot and in the end found a grain of happiness. The same happens with Ebony in this novel. Her life is chronicled from the time of a small child. Some parts will leave you laughing while thinking about your own mischief. Other parts will make you shake your head at the ugliness that people do to others. Ebony grows into a young woman and falls in love with an abusive man. She goes through a lot with this man! Stuff that you couldn't even imagine! The sad part is that she's still a teen when this all starts to occur. The author paints a very vivid picture of teen abuse and how destructive it can be to all involved. I tip my hat off to Author Queen Brown for talking about a silent subject and detailing exactly how someone's past can lead them to bad choices in the future. I look forward to part 2 to see what happens to Ebony. Grab a copy yourself and get ready for an emotional ride!
