How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

In my review of Hell Destroyer I said that I would give it six stars if I could. I have a real tough time deciding whether or not I like Darker than Black better than Hell Destroyer. I don't think it matters which one I listened to first. I guess I would still have to say its a tie. I like them both for different reasons. In Hell Destroyer each song is part of a story and each song depends on each other to make the entire package which gives it an epic feel. However, with Darker than Black each song stands on its own and are all extremely memorable separately or together. The vocal range of Sean Peck on this one is unbelievable. On several tracks, Chupracabra, White Magic, and Secret of Fatima he briefly uses a black metal vocal style. I can take or leave that style but in this case it fits in flawlessly with those songs. In my opinion he belongs in the short list of elite of metal vocalists. As usual his lyrics are stellar. The songs vary in speed and length but are all very heavy with no filler. Standout tracks are Kill the Devil, The Philadelphia Experiment, and Wings of Destruction. Forces of Freedom is also a personal, sentimental favorite as well. Just as in Hell Destroyer the entire band plays their hearts out. All the tracks are great. It just boggles the mind that these guys aren't more well known. Anyone who is a true fan of heavy metal needs this CD.

Cage - they are the Metal band that sounds like IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, CRIMSON GLORY, LIZZY BORDEN, METAL CHURCH, KING DIAMOND. I believe they are the ONLY band that keeps the real Metal sound alive. Any album is Pure Awesome. I am still waiting on a LIVE double album .... someday.

I first heard of this band in Metal Maniacs. I purchased the cd after listening to the demos, especially chupacabra. I would describe the sound as Painkiller meets Forbidden Evil {esp Twisted Into Form}, except that music is 10 years old and these guys are here right now.
This is take no prisoners stuff. Everyone in the band knows how to play. Very tight, fast, and hooky. The first time I listened to Wings of Destruction the hair stood up on the back of my neck.
If you will like power metal, this is for you. Long Live Cage!

Anybody out there a Rob Halford fan? Forget about the industrial synth of Two, I'm talking about The Priest, Fight, and his more recent solo stuff with Roy Z. How about heavy metal with memorable melody and chorus? C'mon, I know you're out there! Cage and their vocalist Sean Peck are waiting for you to discover them!
No neo-classical, no progressive, no keyboards, no ballads, no shred. This is classic hard riffing power. Nothing less.
As I said, Sean Peck has obviously listened to his Judas Priest, because he appears to have graduated at the top of his class with a Master of Halford degree. But he's no clone! He puts his own stamp on that style, taking chances with his range, and pulls off a masterpiece. There's even a slight amount of black metal screeching vocals on "White Magic". I normally can't stand that style (it's the only thing keeping me from picking up any Children of Bodom) but, considering the song's topic, they accentuate this song quite well.
Since they're from San Diego, it's seems fitting that they have a little bilingual action. It's not enough to record a song about the legendary Latino "Chupacabra", but there are both English AND Spanish versions! The Spanish version is "hidden" on track 47. Very nice!
Thank God for the internet, because I would never have found this band without it. I downloaded "Kill the Devil" and was hooked. Go to cageheavymetal dot com, to the download section, and click on the Darker Than Black section to hear for yourself.

No compromising Power Metal Here just Heavy 80's {without being to retro at all} type metal.
This album is better than there first one. The vocals {Sean Peck} are more diverse. Music is harder and faster with great dual guitars with awesome metal riffs.
This band has always had that Judas Priest sound like the band Saint, both have stuck to what they do best and that is heavy metal. You know what you get on each new release {that is not always a bad thing}...
If you have not bought a Cage album start with this one. I love it and hope they will release another one soon.
Darker than Black is a killer song, although there are the dreaded 12 {always keep them wanting more} songs on this CD they are worth it and do not really take away from the cd.
An excellent Heavy Metal Album...way to go guys...
