Darkhouse is seductively entertaining and I'm convinced that it has some secret ingredient (like the sauce on a Big Mac) that makes it immediately addictive. --Bitsy Bling Books: bitsybling.blogspot.com/2011/06/darkhouse-rainy-summertime-read.html

Halle's first-person narrative is written in a breezy fashion that instantly made me feel like I could hang out with her protagonist. --ForeverYoungAdult.com
Darkhouse by Karina Halle has to be the first book in many years to make me glad to be reading during the day. It was creepy, exciting, hilarious and down right one of the most entertaining books that made me want to hug my pillow. - Seeing Night Reviews
I love the way Karina Halle has taken what could be your typical thriller and made her mark on it. Her writing is like a breath of fresh air.- Gothic Angel Reviews
From the Author
With all the vampire, werewolf and faerie books out there, it's easy to become numb to all things supernatural. The antidote?Darkhouse introduces two real and unforgettable characters, Perry Palomino & Dex Foray, amateur ghost hunters who are "attractive, relatable and oddly heroic," "flawed but loveable," "slightly crazy" and just the most endearing pair to ever tackle the paranormal...just don't call them normal.Darkhouse is a thrilling and sexy new take on concepts like Supernatural and The X-Files, bringing a breath of fresh air to a genre that has been inundated with the dead.

Darkhouse is the first installment in what appears to be a nine-book series. This one reads like a pilot episode: making introductions, developing characters and relationships, setting the paranormal scene and dictating the roles for these characters. It's mysterious, suspenseful, and full of ghostly scares. I am super motivated to continue, and it feels nostalgic for me personally as it reminds me of the Friday nights I so looked forward to. Check it out!

I am a huge lover of paranormal and horror books, but have pretty much neglected those genres the last couple of years. However I do want to read more because the worlds that are being created are amazing and so awesome. I am glad I picked this book up (the first four were FREE a couple of months ago, so I one-clicked them right away), because I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. Both Perry and Dex are very intriguing, and I love how mysterious Dex was. I can't wait to discover all of his secrets. I also loved Ada, Perry's younger sister, and I can't wait to see the role she will play in the other books in the series.
Dex is the producer for an upcoming webcast on ghost hunters and wants Perry to be a part of this show. I enjoyed their interaction a lot, I just can't wait to see how that will develop throughout the series. This book was pretty creepy at times (LOVE IT) and also funny. There was action, humor, horror and some sexual tension. I am looking forward to reading what and who they will go up against in the upcoming books. PS: this series would make one awesome TV show!
KC had mentioned to me about wanting to read this series a couple months ago but I was too chicken to take the leap of faith. But after a bad run on romance books lately I knew I had to cleanse my palate. After reading the first couple of pages and seeing my hometown mentioned and my alma mater I knew it was going to be okay!!! Plus there is a lot of humor in this book.
Perry and Dex both have the ability to see and communicate with ghost. Perry is working in Portland as a receptionist and Dex is a internet filmmaker in Seattle. He is 10 years older than Perry.
A lighthouse on Perry's uncle's property is what draws these two to their first meeting of each other. It's no chance meeting because the spirit world has been beaconing them there. A Creepy Clown Lady has been communicating to both them as their 'spirit guide'. She keeps appearing in random places (like the women's bathroom) and giving them cryptic messages.
