About the Author
Bruce Blake lives on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. When pressing issues like shovelling snow and building igloos don't take up his spare time, Bruce can be found taking the dog sled to the nearest coffee shop to work on his short stories and novels. Actually, Victoria, B.C. is only a couple hours north of Seattle, Wash., where more rain is seen than snow. Since snow isn't really a pressing issue, Bruce spends more time trying to remember to leave the "u" out of words like "colour" and "neighbour" than he does shovelling (and watch out for those pesky double l's). The father of two, Bruce is also the trophy husband of a burlesque diva. Bruce's first short story, "Another Man's Shoes" was published in the Winter 2008 edition of Cemetery Moon. Another short, "Yardwork," was made into a podcast in Oct., 2011 by Pseudopod. Bruce's first Icarus Fell novel, "On Unfaithful Wings", was published in Dec., 2011 while the follow up, "All Who Wander Are Lost", came out in July, 2012. The third in the series, "Secrets of the Hanged Man", came out in July, 2013. The first part of his Khirro's Journey epic fantasy trilogy, "Blood of the King", was released Sept., 2012, book 2, "Spirit of the King," in Dec., 2012, and book 3, "Heart of the King," in Feb., 2013.

Who doesn’t love tales that thrill and contain The Mother Goddess and Small Gods? And let’s not forget the prophecy that needs to be fulfilled. I loved following around the Prince and Princess although, I cried thinking Prince Teryk was dead. And I love a good book that can make me a little girly enough to cry. I shivered reading how creepy it was of the Princess meeting the Mother of Death.
All together an amazing story, and a great way to follow up the first book. Please if you write anymore books, Bruce, I want to review them. I find your work just amazing and place you among my favorite authors! Thank you so much for this opportunity to review your work.
This is a good continuation to the first book with addition of more characters. Where does the author come up with them?? I am having a bit of a hard time keeping them catalogued in my mind. But it adds an air of mystery to everyone and this kept me glued to the book.
Finally the characters are being explored with their actions and reactions to their situations and this caused me to understand them better. So I can say that they are a bit more developed compared to the previous book. I read this book faster than the other one because of familiarity with most characters and also the fast paced nature of the tale. It has a bit more life and it caught me with the various sub plots. Teryn missed most of the action while Danya comes out of his shadow to show more of her adventurous side. Their story felt like the main link which connects all the other threads of the story. The character I loved best was Thorn with his idiosyncrasies. I was reminded of a chameleon by Thorn. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a "bad" guy.
I was especially engaged by the various orders of the Goddess which gave me the feeling this is another important sub plot same as Teryn and Danya's. Of course, the earthy parts kind of put me off but the story has enough masala to make me keep reading the series.
The writing was good with clear descriptions and free flowing dialogues. It isn't hard to follow the story line inspite of the numerous characters involved. I feel that the two books have only scratched the top of the tale and there is more to come which will keep me engrossed. I am totally looking forward to the next book!
My rating : 4/5
My reread factor : 3/5
The princess has been given a task but I fear that the Mother of the dead is abit insane. Will she ever find her brother?
Ailyssa has found a new home but it isn't what it seems. The women are used as whores and this is not wanted she wanted for herself or her long lost daughter. But there is a man that is going to save her but will she be able to find her daughter again?
The story has a great pace and never a dull moment but you need to follow it carefully or else you get lost. The goddess is a man awful woman that hopefully gets taken down. Where to from here? There are so many questions as the story just gets better as it goes along. Love the characters well not all of them but that is what makes the story so good as there is good & evil. Let's see where the story takes us too.
