My kids and I went to the Renaissance Festival this year, and my teenage son desperately wanted to get one of those cowhorn drinking glasses they sell - to the tune of $85. I told him no way, and when we got home went to Amazon, where I found this great looking drinking vessel. This is bigger and nicer than the "real" cow horn, and has a great stand and a very nice neck strap. I like that it is thick plastic, and not "cheap" at all - but has all the feel of the real thing. My son loved it, and takes it with him to the RenFest, but also takes it to Boy Scout Camp-outs.

Plastic, and not the "Real thing"? Sure, it wasn't ripped off the head of a once real cow, but since plastic is the by-product of petroleum distillates, one could argue that in a way, this is possibly the horn from a once-real dinosaur........

It's as cool as a jackhammer! If that jackhammer were made of frozen moonshine filled with angry killer bees!

The steel rim make for a good feel when drinking from it and the strap makes sure you won't lose it after drinking the massive amount of liquid it holds. You will forget what happened, but the horn will be right where you left it. Plus, it will be ready to fill up again for that important morning hair of the dog.

The stand is a nice touch and it looks pretty good as man-cave decoration. A row of them along a bench in front of a barrel full of mead would look even better!

The rather pain nature is actually a plus. It looks good as is but if you're a ren geek or whatever it should be seen as a blank slate to do with as you will. It's even thick enough to (carefully) carve into it with a dremel if you have all that time on your hands.

Overall, it's a big win. Save the real horns for hanging on the wall.

As one of the original Kickstarter supporters, Das Horn does not disappoint. The build quality is surprisingly good for a novelty gift. Even comes with a neck strap and stand in case you want to put it down (but why would you want to?). Power prost!

I've been very pleasantly surprised by this horn. Obviously, the novelty is great, but what's really impressed me is how much better than regular glasses the thing actually is!

First of all, the neck strap is wonderful. Not only is it great to have your drink on-hand at all times, but it frees up table/counter/desk space too! If you keep a messy desk like I do, it's annoying to have to clear space for a glass or bottle and this entirely eliminates the problem.

I'm also a guitarist, and I happen to prefer playing standing up. Because of the neck strap, my drink is always resting against the upper horn of my guitar, so I don't have to walk back to a table or the back of a stage; and because of the horn's taper and curve, it stays out of the way of my left hand!

The capacity is also great. If you're somewhat clumsy with pouring carbonated beverages, like me, then you will accidentally pour too hard and cause foam to overflow from time to time. This, however, has room for two 12oz drinks, so pouring a whole bottle in is absolutely no problem. The foam will never spill over.

As a final note, I understand what another customer meant about the thing feeling cheap. When I first got the horn, I was honestly expecting it to feel a little heavier. Yeah, it "feels" cheap, but that's prejudice based on the plastic from children's toys and the like. If the plastic chosen for this item is a lot lighter than, say, steel, that's fine. Who wants a metal slug hanging off their neck, anyway?

All in all, I have no legitimate complaints. This is definitely on my list of things to buy again as a gift for my good friends.

The horn, being man-made, is perfectly fine, as it is exactly as pictured. My problem is with the stand. It is VERY light, and falls down pretty much constantly. It needs bottom weights. If the bottom rim were 1/4 inch, maybe 1/2, the purchaser could glue weights to the bottom, and bot pay for shipping the weight, or the weight could cost 1-3 bucks more.

At first i got this and was just thinking comically, but once i got to using it i was thinking economically. It is a wonderful vessel for working around the house, always stays level, holds a fair amount, and is comfortable to wear and drink from, not to mention durable. Getting a small silicone cover keeps your horn clean and dust free when it is sitting waiting for use. I love this horn and think about it ever time I'm drinking from some peasant's cup. If there was a version of this with some sort of lid, I would probably wear it at all times!

I am blown away by this purchase and if i would have need for more, i wouldn't hesitate in buying this again.
