Got the dash cam 2 days ago. So far its worked the way they say it would besides the inside view at night.
The night vision on the inside is not even worth using. I will be uploading a video at some point of how it looks. Like another user said you will get a small area that's seen. The day time video is as good as the S1 with the setting set at 1080p 30fps. The mic is 100% better then my S1. Hopefully this will be a better dash cam for the hotter places in the world. That was the biggest reason I went to this because my S1 took a dump because of the battery. will update the review in about a year if it makes it that long. The S1 lasted 8 months so lets pray its better.
Video was added. The video was taken in 1080p both front and rear Cams.
I ordered 2 of these cameras the other day; 1 for my wife's car and 1 for mine. I also ordered the SanDisk high performance 128gb SD cards. The setup was a breeze. The picture quality is very good. I had no problem reading plate numbers. To test the WDR, I drove straight into the sunset. Quality was not compromised. I'm going to have to play with positioning a bit. On the rear facing camera, I got a bit a flare from the sun reflecting off the back of the mirror. I drive about 36k miles per year, so I think of cameras as a necessity. My old Garmin is going to be put in the back window.
The Hardwire Kit. Upon opening the box, there was a little yellow card instructing me to contact support about the kit, so I did. I got a response back within less than a day asking for my shipping address and thanking me for my purchase. This morning, I received a confirmation email telling me my Hardwire Kits have been shipped. With no charge. I don't know if this a promo during the launch or whatever, but I like it!
In a few days, I'll post a video review on my YouTube.
I installed it recently and I am loving it.
This device has a camera that points forward, catching the vehicles and everything that’s in front of you.
This device also has a camera that records the interior of your vehicle.
This device also records all of the audio that is inside of the vehicle.
Both of the cameras use a Sony sensor to record the video, which results in a very high quality image that captures a lot of detail.
I am disappointed with the size of the display screen, as I was hoping it would be considerably bigger (but the size of the entire device is small and compact, which is great for not obstructing your view out the window).
Both cameras can be set to record in 720P or 1080P.
I have installed a 64GB micro memory chip, and that holds plenty of video for me, many hours.
I am happy that it does have night vision for the interior camera, but the amount of IR light emitted could be bigger, so as to see a wider area inside the vehicle (it appears that about half of the cameras field-of-view is not illuminated by the IR lights).
The display can be set to always on (which I must have to help prevent my Uber passengers from acting unruly), but it does a picture-in-picture function where the front camera image is displayed over the cabin image, and that cuts off or blocks the passenger’s head in the display. It should be set so that the driver’s head is cut off (this is only a problem in countries like the U.S. where the steering wheel is on the left side of the car) or it should be adjustable in the settings, as to where you want the PIP to be.
You can set the internal GPS function on, and set it to MPH or KPH, and the unit will display a time-stamp with your current speed, imprinted on the final videos.
When I unboxed and started testing the unit when I first got it, the unit seemed to be defective. I played with it a little more, but it seemed that the front-facing camera was not working, it produced a black video. After reviewing the video in my computer, I realized that it was recording video and audio. After examining the unit closer, I discovered a black tape that was over the lens of only the front camera, not the interior facing camera. I hadn’t noticed that tape. After taking the tape off, the camera works flawlessly, of course. However, the audio could be a little better.
