Completely an anecdotal book rather than "Data driven". The title could justifiably be called false advertising. Maybe the high level description of UX techniques would have sufficed 7 or 8 years back when some of the techniques here were actually new and needed introduction. Still wouldn't justify the title though! I was expecting more than a passing mention of A/B testing somewhere in the Glossary! And forget about Multivariate testing! Indeed there's no real data driven technique that's discussed in any detail here.
This book can basically be distilled down to this: learn about your users, do low fedelity mock ups and test early and often. The 'how' is not addressed, only the 'what' and 'why'.
