It also covers how to date and not lose your friends and family
LBGT dating is also covered in one section.
Finally, there's a chapter on some exciting things you can do to impress your date, in case you've run out of ideas or are so rusty that you can't think beyond an evening at the movies. I give the book three stars for two reasons; each chapter or section is very basic and barely touches on the issue, and it kinda is "for dummies." Most people I know who are about my age know these things well, no matter their background, education or intellect. Basic survival. Still, if you've forgotten how it is to date, this is a good reminder of the complex issues of dating in advanced years. It doesn't cover well the complex issues of children, divorce and finance, and for that, you'd need a much more in-depth book. And frankly, that's the information you'd really want if you are getting serious. This is basic.
The book is not very much in depth--I'd describe it as a series of outlines and topic headings, things you should take into consideration.

Wrong...this book really is for dummies and am surprised it has almost a 5 star rating?? Really?
I think maybe some didn't actually read this because there is nothing in this book to rate anywhere near that in my opinion.
I have read other Dummies books in the past that were actually good.
This one barely covers common sense stuff. And am very disappointed with it.
Unless you have lived in a cave for 30 years, this book is of no help to get you in the dating world.
This is the worst dummies book I have ever read, and do not recommend it unless...like I said a caveman.
The world has definitely changed since I started dating.
This book applies to anyone over 40.
Yes, it may be "common sense" for some, yet why not read it anyway?
Knowledge can't hurt us, yet ignorance and naivete CAN hurt.
If you pick up even one piece of knowledge, then I think we are all better off.
There are a lot of scammers out there. Knowledge is power. So, take a look at the book and be open minded.
Best of luck on finding your new partner.
I found that much of the book is a pep talk, offering words of encouragement to those folks who haven't been on a date in years. The author is mindful that not everyone who is newly single is ready for another relationship, and encourages each of us to do a little self-evaluation before we dive in.
This book breaks down steps in dating relationships from the very beginning when people are seriously wanting to begin a relationship. It also gives good tips to consider what one is looking for in a romantic partner.
In today's Digital World, there is also a section on dating online and how to cast your cyber net out there to catch some potential romantic interests. I really like the way this book includes a lot about spirituality and what one's value and belief systems are and what values and beliefs they seek in a significant other.
This author is quite gifted and detailed in offering all kinds of information such as how to introduce your date to your family; how to plan dates and frank discussions on who picks up the tab when eating out or attending a function with an admission price. If medical conditions are a concern, fear not! This book provides good practicala advice on discussing medical conditions as well as what one is seeking if the relationship becomes sexual.
If you are in this age range and you are serious about meeting dates, then make this book your best friend.

This book is a lot of fun. Certainly not a definitive instruction book, but it had some helpful solutions. It is also not too old, and certainly a good price. Read morePublished 16 months ago by Amazon Customer
