This book is a decent outline of all the issues you should consider when dating after age 50, from the basic etiquette (who pays?) to sexual issues from what's too soon, too much (unless you're into that), and also what's TOO LITTLE, not only for guys, but also for gals.

It also covers how to date and not lose your friends and family

LBGT dating is also covered in one section.

Finally, there's a chapter on some exciting things you can do to impress your date, in case you've run out of ideas or are so rusty that you can't think beyond an evening at the movies. I give the book three stars for two reasons; each chapter or section is very basic and barely touches on the issue, and it kinda is "for dummies." Most people I know who are about my age know these things well, no matter their background, education or intellect. Basic survival. Still, if you've forgotten how it is to date, this is a good reminder of the complex issues of dating in advanced years. It doesn't cover well the complex issues of children, divorce and finance, and for that, you'd need a much more in-depth book. And frankly, that's the information you'd really want if you are getting serious. This is basic.

The book is not very much in depth--I'd describe it as a series of outlines and topic headings, things you should take into consideration.

I am recently single again and over 50 so I thought, hey why not check this out, maybe I will learn something.
Wrong...this book really is for dummies and am surprised it has almost a 5 star rating?? Really?
I think maybe some didn't actually read this because there is nothing in this book to rate anywhere near that in my opinion.
I have read other Dummies books in the past that were actually good.
This one barely covers common sense stuff. And am very disappointed with it.
Unless you have lived in a cave for 30 years, this book is of no help to get you in the dating world.
This is the worst dummies book I have ever read, and do not recommend it unless...like I said a caveman.

This book is very well written, with guidelines for staying safe while dating.

The world has definitely changed since I started dating.
This book applies to anyone over 40.

Yes, it may be "common sense" for some, yet why not read it anyway?
Knowledge can't hurt us, yet ignorance and naivete CAN hurt.

If you pick up even one piece of knowledge, then I think we are all better off.

There are a lot of scammers out there. Knowledge is power. So, take a look at the book and be open minded.

Best of luck on finding your new partner.

I gave this to my mother. She is single and in her 60s, living in Phoenix, Arizona. She said it offered good advice, and was very practical. She also said that it encouraged her to be confident and make herself more available to meet people, which are both words of advice that I have shared with her often (for some reason she does not listen to me). The book is easy to read, and you can easily shuffle around in the book to chapters that interest you. If nothing else, the book is just good for fun.

Although much of this is pretty basic, it's still a good overview for folks who have been out of the dating scene for many years and are wondering how to start over in finding a new relationship. There's a lot here for someone who isn't quite sure if he or she is ready to go online to find a date, let alone find a longterm relationship. I don't think the book would have much to offer to someone who has been dating all along -- it is directed more toward folks who have been off the market for some time and are curious as to whether to dive back in, highlighting how the singles scene has changed in the past thirty or forty years.

I found that much of the book is a pep talk, offering words of encouragement to those folks who haven't been on a date in years. The author is mindful that not everyone who is newly single is ready for another relationship, and encourages each of us to do a little self-evaluation before we dive in.

This is an excellent book and I've enjoyed it all along. It was a happy day for me the day it became available.

This book breaks down steps in dating relationships from the very beginning when people are seriously wanting to begin a relationship. It also gives good tips to consider what one is looking for in a romantic partner.

In today's Digital World, there is also a section on dating online and how to cast your cyber net out there to catch some potential romantic interests. I really like the way this book includes a lot about spirituality and what one's value and belief systems are and what values and beliefs they seek in a significant other.

This author is quite gifted and detailed in offering all kinds of information such as how to introduce your date to your family; how to plan dates and frank discussions on who picks up the tab when eating out or attending a function with an admission price. If medical conditions are a concern, fear not! This book provides good practicala advice on discussing medical conditions as well as what one is seeking if the relationship becomes sexual.

If you are in this age range and you are serious about meeting dates, then make this book your best friend.
