She is approached by a very suave head of Obstetrics, Henry Blackwell who seems to be interested and asks her out for drinks.
Just then, Chris McDonald enters with a woman who s e water has broken and needs help. He doesn't know the woman but just helped her out of kindness. In the process, Ivy sprains her ankle and a romance unfolds. But Chris is just passing through on his way to Wyoming where he owns a business.
Is there a choice? Ex-Army metal manufacturer or smooth, successful doctor? After a few dates the decision she makes may affect her family and job! Does she have enough self-confidence? Will outside influences come between them?
This short story is about a naive woman who questions everything, but what she should be questioning. She doesn't listen to her heart, and makes foolish decisions, but it is hard to get around her insecurities. This is a unique storyline that feels a little rushed, but is an enjoyable and uplifting read!
This stand-alone novella is easy to follow. No graphic violence or drag-you-down drama.
The storyline is believable. Ivy's sense of self-worth, vicious little sister, family dynamics and emotions all flow so smoothly one feels they are a part of it.
The characters are realistic. Their actions and reactions are understandable. The dialogue is thought-provoking and interesting
I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next story.
Ivy, an obstetric nurse in Wyoming has a problem with her confidence and self image. Even though she is only a size12, her very slim sisters treat her as if she were obese and unattractive. They can't understand why handsome Chris, whom she met at her sister Taz's wedding, would travel 11 hours from his home in Kansas to date her. At the same time, Dr. Henry Blackwell, a colleague from the hospital where she works, is asking her to date him after working together for many years.
Read the book to see whether Ivy decides to pursue a relationship with Chris, a sheet metal worker struggling to make his business prosper, or Henry, head of Obstetrics at the same hospital where she works. I enjoyed reading the book but thought it ended rather abruptly.
I love Lorhainne Eckhart's books and am thankful that I was able to receive this ARC from the author for my personal opinion and review of this book. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. All the books can be read as standalones.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Ivy Parker meet Chris at her sister’s wedding. He’s a hunk and she thinks no one like him could like someone like her, a little plump. But Chris sees something in her that he’s never seen in another woman.
He unfortunately witnesses Ivy’s first date with one of the doctors from the hospital where she’s a nurse. He even overhears the unflattering things the good doctor says about her to their bartender. He tries to warn her off but she doesn’t know him and ignores his warning. Things just get more tangled from there. Can a man like Chris be attracted to someone like Ivy? Can Chris convince Ivy to see herself like he sees her?
I must admit Amy puts up with a lot from her sisters. They are dismissive and quick to make remarks about her figure. I would have slapped the lot of them more than once but Amy just seems to accept their criticism. This damages her already fragile self esteem and leaves her open to the mind games of one how is keen to see Chris out of the picture and Amy in his slimy hands!!!
Scarlett is going to be a handful and I only hope that she matures and grows up some cos at the mo I REALLY dislike this witch!!!!
