This is a different book. Egyptian mythology is heavily used in the book. Which is great and the author did a fantastic job explaining the different gods/goddesses. I can count on one hand how many books I liked that used Egyptian mythology as a major plot line and this book is one of them.
Of course, being the first book of a series, it left more questions then answers. I didn’t like that the grandmother dies almost immediately after Trinity arrives on the island. It left so many unanswered questions and I will admit, I got frustrated.
The book did lag a little for a couple of chapters but then picked up pace for the explosive ending. There are hints in the book about who the villain was but I picked it up early and to be honest, wasn’t very surprise. Still the ending was a shock.
How many stars will I give Daughter of the Sun? 5
Will I read it again? Yes and I really want to read the other books in the series too
Will I reccomend it to family and friends? Yes.
Age range? Tween on up. Amazon has a grade level of 7th grade on it. But I am sure younger could read it. It is very clean. No swearing, no sex. Just one kiss and then the guy left….lol.

TRINITY ASK WHY IT TAKE HER SO LONG WELL SHE GOING TO FIND OUT AND FIND OUT ABOUT HER BIRTH ON THE ECLIPS
AND WHAT IT MEAN SHE IS TORN NOT GETTING TO NOW WHAT GOING ON BUT SHE SMART AND DOES WHAT ANY KID WOULD DO
YOU LOVE THE BOOK IT TOOK ME 2 SAY TO READ IT AND THEN I DID NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN I WISH YOU THE BEST IN TH4E BOOK AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME DO REEVIEW FOR YOU
Characterization is very good and is near to real. Since it is a fantasy, a few incidents are difficult to convince us. The character of Trinity is believable with her short temper but helping nature. Ara is kind of a girl next door. Dr. Nassri's character is mysterious. Many new terminologies about Egyptian mummies, Voodo dolls, witchcraft, ancient rituals, Secret sisterhood are thrown very quickly, so in the middle, I felt difficult to absorb.
The book cover is apt, though the book title is not very convincing to me. Though Trinity is the daughter of the Sun, there is not much mention of her father or about the Goddess and incarnation. The narration is gripping and makes you glued to the book for a long time.
Yes, there are many doubts uncleared by the end of the book. Obviously, the author wants to clarify them in the next part.
Overall, a wonderful fantasy and fiction read with a touch of Egyptian mythology.
As it is the first in a series it, of course, offers more questions than it answers, but it is fabulous. The author was quite able to offer an incredible amount of exposition, back-story and Egyptian history without disturbing the flow of the story. The focus of this YA drama is Trinity, her quest for answers about her past and her relationships with the other young people who have become a part of her new life, Ara and Seth. She is a brilliant principal character, a perfect fusion of angsty teen and intelligent protagonist.
There are enough twists and turns along with sappy teenage emotions to keep even the most tepid readers engaged. The story offers just the right blend of suspense and action with an explosive showdown that leaves me to wonder what the ‘Big Bad’ in the series will actually be. The teaser for book two definitely engaged my interest.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
