The answer, for anyone who truly knows Scripture, is that women have played a huge part in Bible history, all the way back to the beginning! We see women not only as supportive wives and help-mates, but also as teachers (2 Timothy 1:5; 3:15; Titus 2:3-5), deacons (Romans 16:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 16:19), apostles (Romans 16:7) and prophetesses (Genesis 24:15, 19; Exodus 15:20). And let’s not forget that Deborah was not only a prophetess, but Judge over all Israel (Judges 4)!
These are but a few examples, but Scripture is replete with accomplished women who were used by God. The Bible, read in context, clearly reveals that ADONAI views men and women as equals, yet each with their own, specific gender roles. Rabbin Brandt’s research provides an indepth look at these various roles and how they helped shape Bible history.
