The markings section was a welcome addition. Here we had color profiles of the SBD in all the various paint schemes worn throughout the war. The text describing these schemes was comprehensive as well. The modelling section was also greatly expanded over the original, both in words and pictures. If you are a modeller you won't be disappointed with the detailed reviews. There are also long lists of kits, aftermarket detailing kits, and decals.
One might have hoped for at least a table of squadrons in which the SBD served but all we get are a few mentions throughout the text. One could also have wished for some more computer graphics like instrument panels and cockpit details that have appeared in other digital D&S titles but we get none of that.
The book is highly recommended if one does not already own the print original. Other excellent Dauntless books have appeared in the interim (MMP's Dauntless book comes to mind) but this is still a worthwhile purchase. If one has the print original, decide for oneself if the camouflage, markings, and modelling additions are worth it.
