I have been using Spur Tree scotch bonnet hot sauce for years, it tastes pretty much exactly like fresh scoth bonnets. Unfortunately, their product seems to have become more and more watered down over the years, so I wanted to try some other options. This had been recommended to me, though I have no clue how anyone could consider this concoction acceptable, especially for the price!

It tastes like vinegar with a drop of tabasco in it.

It's hardly spicy, it's awfully acidic and I can't even detect a hint of the sweet Scotch Bonnet flavor that I was hoping for. Zero. It just made my dish taste like vinegar and completely ruined it.
It even looks transparent, making it obvious that there's hardly any pepper in there at all.

At least it renewed my appreciation for my trusty old hot sauce (try it if you want to know what the real deal is supposed to taste like).

Tastes like vinegar with a tiny bit of flavor and color added to it. I'm serious. I didn't believe the other reviewer that mentioned this. Save your money and don't buy it, since you can't return it, unless you really want flavored vinegar. This is not hot at all. Weaker than any basic Frank's hot sauce, Cholula, or Tabasco.

I'd buy this sauce again in an instant. I put about a third of this 5 oz. bottle on a turkey pita. After that, I drank the rest from shot glasses, so the bottle was gone in less than an hour. I ordered two bottles, so I have one more left I'm saving for a special sandwich.

I noticed the price (at the time of this review) jumped to OVER $10, which is crazy. I paid almost $9, which already was too much, but it was one of the flavors of the brand I hadn't yet tried, so I had to give it a go. Our grocer sells Dave's Hurtin' Habenero for $4.69, so unless this is some kind of seasonal sauce, I would not go over $5. Sorry, Dave.

I'd probably try making a version of my own with apple cider vinegar and the peppers, although I believe Dave's used "cane vinegar."

My favorite hot sauce by far. It's plenty spicy, but also has great scotch bonnet flavor, a little vinegar tang, and goes well with lots of different foods. It's not *crazy* hot by any means, but if you are generous with your application of it, you'll definitely get a sweat going.

Tastes like there were peppers in here at one point but is lost in a overwhelming vinegar flavor. After using Daves insanity sauce I was expecting a smack to the face instead I got a running acidic mess. I'd go with one of the thicker fresh Scotch Bonnet sauces.

FYI, this review is for Dave's Gourmet Sauce, Scotch Bonnet, 5 Ounce. Tried this at F*rehouse Subs and LOVED it. Really not that hot, IIRC F*rehouse rates it as like a 5 or a 6 on a scale of 10. Near perfect for sandwiches. Not a bad deal with Prime, would buy again (and consider as a gift for friends!)
