In the first book they had already fun with and now in the second book, written by Janice Spina, they are going on a hunt again.
After school they have to go to their aunt Gigi, until their mum is coming home from work. And there they help their aunt unpacking some boxes. And what they find there, amazes them but frighten them as well. A Chrystal ball with a black cat.
The next day Mickies sister was missing. Mickey was their best friend and helped them in their detective work. Now, will they find his sister? And most amazingly, how they find her?
Very well written. I recommend that book not only for youngsters, for the young in heart as well.
I really liked this second book in the Davey & Derek series. The twins mother needs to return to full time working and she arranges for the boys to spend the afternoons with their Great Aunt Gigi and Great Uncle George. The boys soon realise that Aunt Gigi is no ordinary aunt and start to learn some of her interesting secrets as they unpack her box full of surprises. They are introduced to Aunt Gigi's long dead black cat and they soon come to realise that the cat is trying to warn them about something, but what? Before long Derek and Davey are embroiled in another adventure. The concepts of friendship and keeping your head in a stressful situation are both incorporated into this fun read.
Michael really liked this story and I found it fast moving and interesting. Michael was intrigued by Aunt Gigi and her box of interesting and unusual goodies. An excellent read for children aged 9 to 12 years old.
As in her first story, Janice Spina incorporates the concepts of friendship and teamwork in tense circumstances. Young readers will lose themselves in exciting setups with thrilling twists and turns as Davey and Derek discover their new magical power. And when something bad happens to their best friend’s CAT little sister, the boys team up with Aunt Gigi and her mysterious black cat…
Another intriguing book for young adults! Just when you think you’ve gotten ahead of the story, something unexpected happens. I love how the engaging plot and magic in the story keeps readers on their toes, and how the author cleverly stirs the twist of magic into the book! A splendid mystery for young boys and girls!
The 2 love to spend time with their Great Aunt Gigi.
What secrets does she reveal later to the 2 boys?
Will the 2 twins & Mianna solve the mystery disappearance of Jenny Catonni (daughter/sister)?
What does TT represent?
Shout out to John Spina like to see more colored & detailed pictures for the kiddos.
The only thing I see wrong with this book is you need to get a new publisher. There were huge spaces/gaps in between words on several pages.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written children’s mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s movie, animated cartoon, mini TV series or documentary. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.
