I was born outside of Buffalo New York, graduated high school in 1961 in Stillwater, Minnesota, and was graduated with a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Minnesota in 1971. I worked as a lyricist and drummer for an acid rock group in Minneapolis in the late 1960s.
I never thought I'd end up a writer/publisher. I was a book illustrator in the early 1970s. By the 80s, I was a graphic designer, typographer, and art director. I started teaching digital printing in a 2-year college in the early 90s. By the mid-90s I was designing fonts.
I signed my first author contract in 1994, publishing six textbooks over the next decade. I started teaching online and selling PDFs online by 1996. My writing career began with several traditionally published textbooks on digital publishing, graphic design, and typography from 1995-2004 focusing on FreeHand, Photoshop, and InDesign. My current best sellers in digital publishing are "Practical Font Design Using FontLab 5”, closely followed by "Book Publishing With InDesign CC", and my various books on using InDesign to convert your print books to ebooks, book typography, using graphics in books, and so on.
Once I began self-publishing full-time in 2009, I began writing Christian books and Christian fiction. My current best seller in non-fiction is "How to Teach the Bible". I've been a Christian and scripture teacher since 1974, a teaching pastor in a small Foursquare then non-denomination church in Albuquerque for over a decade in the 90s and new millennium. I've written several verse by verse Bible studies, topical studies, and more focused teaching books.
I started writing fiction in the 90s. I'm just beginning to reach competency. In 2017, I released a trilogy of Christian political thrillers called "Tales of Mighty Men". My works in process include a fantasy trilogy I hope to release in 2018.
I also consult with and design books for other Christian authors. This has become a real focus of my ministry. It's been a real joy to be working on my own. I can finally express my convictions, responsible only to you, my readers, and my God.
