This arrived 15 Jan a week after his departure and 2 weeks before the scheduled date. The first thing about this release is that it is the business. There are replica LP sleeves (e.g. the Excerpts from Outside as opposed to 1. Outside which is, here, like all the others a 2 CD release all of which the full versions of each album plus all or nearly all the bonus material, B sides, mixes and all related audio. The ox is solid and stylish, no annoying features or flimsiness. This is really the way to have good audio releases. Mind you the booklets are a little too small for the optically challenged. But that's small beer, maybe we can download a pdf of the full books one day so the content will be legible.
This box set is oriented to anyone who likes these albums and would like to hear and have all related music. Frankly even if I didn't like the music (which I do) this is the sort of thing well worth receiving. Sounds beautiful as well, Highly recommended.

I ran cross this box set randomly on Amazon and decided to get it and so thrilled that I did! I can tell you this box set really is deluxe. Recently I decided to revisit David Bowie s catalog from 1995 and beyond and I found myself completely immersed in the music.I love David Bowie's trajectory on these records , and he shows no sign of slowing down or phoning it in. Each release is a complete and distinct journey into the mind and creative process of the one and only David Bowie. After the release of "The Next Day" I went into full Bowie mania. The albums (Outside,The Earthling, Hours, Heathen, Reality) are all packaged in glossy digipak double CD's . The second CD's contain remixes , single versions, unreleased material and in the case of "Heathen" almost an entire album of bonus tracks. The box itself is a sleek sturdy shell but what really matters is the music within. For the price this was a satisfying purchase for me who enjoys special editions and box sets and this was truly special!

This 10 CD boxset comprises of the last five Bowie studio CD's: Outside, Earthling, Hours, Heathen, and Reality. They're presented as 2CD set editions in album type sleeves (with the original cd booklets). One CD is the original cd and the second disc consists of "b" sides, alternate mixes, and rarities from the time period. For those of you looking for feedback and reviews of the individual CD's I will suggest you research them individually. For the die hard Bowie fans who own the original cd releases, I highly recommend this set.
Trying to collect the individual singles and various versions in which alot of these rarities have appeared on is insane, as well as expensive.
This boxset puts it all together and I consider this a must own for any Bowie fan. If you don't have any of these CD's and are thinking of purchasing them, I suggest that this is the way to go. This is a great deal for the money as well as being a great package.
I consider this era of Bowie music very underrated and overlooked. Upon purchasing this set, I was able to rediscover and enjoy these CD's again and develop a new appreciation for them. The bonus disc's with the rare material and "b" sides was real treat as well. Get it while you can, you won't be sorry.

The 90's and 00's has some of Bowie's most interesting and underrated work, and this box set is perfect for both newcomers and collectors. For the newcomer, you are being introduced to some of David Bowie's finest work. For the collectors, each of the five albums comes with a bonus disc filled to the brim with extras, including some very hard to find b-sides, like Safe, 1917, Nothing to be Desired, and Waterloo Sunset. My only complaint is that the second disc to 1. Outside doesn't come with the Pet Shop Boys remix of Hallo Spaceboy. (also surprisingly hard to find)

Ten great CDs and is a must have for any Bowie follower. Some of the extras are surprisingly better then the songs on the original cd. The remix’s are interesting yet aren’t as satisfying and are just room to fill the disc (five versions of halo spaceboy? Room could have been used for re-releasing unheard mixes of old hits)
Brilliant cover art. One of the main reasons i bought it was due to the cover art.
In all this box set is for die hard bowie fans as it is a collection of not his most greatest works toward general fans yet is special memorabilia compilation directed toward others.

loved the mastering on the c.d.'s but i wish there was some different "BONUS" stuff then there was. perhaps some "LIVE" unreleased items or finally the complete "TOY C.D." i hadn't kept up on BOWIE during these years and i am glad to have picked this up. it makes me appreciate how diverse he really was.

A lot of people prefer the somewhat "classic" era of Bowie (i.e., "Ziggy ...", Diamond Dogs", "Pin-Ups", etc.), but this collection of latter day Bowie really speaks volumes to me. I like all aspects of Bowie, no matter what ch-ch-ch-changes he's gone through, so I have to say GET THIS ONE, FOLKS! You'll be glad you did ... I mean, come on! It's BOWIE, fer crissakes!!

An excellent box set of Bowie's '90s era. Featuring deluxe expanded two-disc editions of each album, housed in mini-LP style sleeves in a sturdy outer box- it is worth having as part of your collection.

Box of Bowie
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 20, 2013
As a keen but far from hardcore collector of Bowie music this set has certainly plugged a few gaps in my Bowie collection. Numerous quality B sides that perhaps didn't fit in the flow of the main album. Remixes, however are usually superfluous and it's i've rarely anticipated new Bowie remixes such is the body of his work. Multiple remixes of The Hearts Filthy Lesson or Hallo Spaceboy or Seven listened back to back would only whet the appetite of a demented bowie fan. But rip the lot and then it's worth sifting through and you'll find NIN, Air, and Moby all putting their considerable and distinguished stamps on proceedings. The Heathen bonus disc with several songs from the Toy sessions is the one that stands out almost sounding like a proper album itself. As for the main albums all are creative successes. Heathen and 1.Outside favourably rank with with his classic 70s decade. For me Bowie never "lost it". Only seldom across these 5 albums does he goes creatively astray or too indulgent.
The packaging is good quality if not exactly remarkable and fits nicely in the glove compartment. While a follow up to the best of 80-87 collection is notably absent this for under £30 more than makes up for it.
Seriously, with 63 bonus tracks worth buying even if you already own the original albums.

It's a great collection of David Bowies music from the past from 1974 to 1984. Excellent value for the price and well worth listening to.

Disappointed

Not what I expected. I think I was hopeful that it was extracts/acoustic versions of radio interviews. Instead is was poor quality, almost mono, recordings of concerts recorded by radio stations.

Fantastic value box set.

Great value box set of Bowie's over-looked albums from the last 20 years or so. Lots on these albums to enjoy and not true at all that Bowie lost his way after 1980's 'Scary Monsters' - if anything, these albums show that Bowie was always on an artistic upswing from his legendary 70s recorded output, from the early to mid 1990's onwards.
