David Ragg writes practical books about mobile technology that help people master their devices. He finds that many technology books and training courses these days tell you the obvious, and he’s determined to avoid that shortcoming.
David has witnessed the many ways in which the mobile revolution is radically changing our lives. As someone who travels a lot, he wanted to know if he could go 'mobile only'. He dived fully into the digital world, packing four mobile devices and setting out on three international trips, covering over 60,000 km. While on the go, he road tested over 700 iPhone and Android travel- and productivity-related apps. It was a potent lesson in what works and what doesn't, and David wants to share this kind of practical, real world information in his books.
In the last few years mobile and digital have totally reshaped the way most people travel. Little more than ten years ago, we traveled with a guidebook, used travel agents, and carried physical currency. These days, its usually a smartphone, apps, and digital currency. At the airport, you’ll usually see more people lined up for a prepaid local SIM card than you will to change foreign currency. His work is designed to teach you how to navigate this new world of travel.
In his other life, David works as specialist researcher in change, leadership, and organisational development. He’s also a trained coach, facilitator, and counsellor. Having worked remotely for over a decade in more than half a dozen different countries, he appreciates the challenges that this lifestyle brings. He has also come to understand the need for balance in his life.
Although David is based in Melbourne, Australia, you’re just as likely to run into him somewhere overseas. (Yes, often with smartphone(s) in hand!) In his spare time, he’s watching foreign movies, bush walking, or enjoying his latest hobby, nature sound recording.
