I like really spicy chais. Like the kind you get at the overpriced coffee shop that just warms you up smelling it. There's something about the mix of flavors that just makes you feel comfortable. This chai wasn't nearly that spicy and was a bit mellow actually. To me, it tasted more like milk chocolate hot chocolate or a week cappuchino. That's not to say it was bad. People who enjoy a lighter flavor would probably be very pleased with it. It was a little sweet but not overpoweringly so and you could taste the notes of dairy in it as well. One spice packet flavors 6 oz of water which is about standard mug size, but I did notice that even after vigorous stirring, I still had clumps of powder that didn't want to dissolve so you could probably get away with a larger glass.
This chai really did excite me when I bought it. So much so that I didn't read the ingredient list. Which is unusual for me. Especially when the packet was advertised as sugar free which is usually a warning. This is sweetned with Splenda. Which I don't care for at all and was very disappointed about. If you don't care about your sweeteners though, this is probably going to be a drink right up your alley if you like chai and hot drinks. It should be noted that even though this is sugar free, there is still maltodextrin and those who need to limit their glucose might be advised away from this drink. Otherwise the ingredients are relatively good.Read more ›
