About David Wilder
David Wilder was born in New Jersey in the USA in 1954, and graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a BA in History and teacher certification in 1976. He spent 1974-75 in Jerusalem at the Hebrew University and returned to Israel upon graduation. He studied in Yeshiva for over 8 years, including three years in Machon Meir, three years in the Or Hebron Kollel in Kiryat Arba, one year at Rabbi Shlomo Riskin's yeshiva in Efrat and one year in Yeshivat Shavei Hebron in Hebron. He worked at Yeshivat Shavei Hebron in a Public Relations capacity and assisting to initiate LeKommiut, the Yeshiva's educational publication. He has taught, and also worked for Hebrew University and Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav.
For seventeen years David Wilder has worked with the Jewish Community of Hebron. He is the English spokesman for the community, granting newspaper, television and radio interviews internationally. He initiated the Hebron internet project, including email lists of over 15,000 subscribers who receive regular news and commentaries from Hebron in English and Hebrew. David has written hundreds of columns, posted on internet and appearing on websites and in newspapers around the world.
David is responsible and continues to update the Hebron web sites, portraying various facets of Hebron, utilizing text, audio, video and pictures. He also conducts tours of Hebron's Jewish Community and occasionally travels abroad, speaking at Hebron functions. In addition, he has spoken at other functions, including twice appearing as a guest speaker at ZOA - Washington D.C. conventions.
David Wilder is the son of the Pam Wilder and the late Samuel Wilder. He is married to Ora, a 'Sabra,' for 32 years. They lived in Kiryat Arba for 17 years and have resided at Beit Hadassah in Hebron for the past thirteen years. They have seven children, fiveour of whom are married, including a daughter living in Hebron, a son and 2 daughters in the Southern Hebron Hills communities Beit Hagai and Shima, and a daughter living in the Samaria community Tapuach. The Wilders have also many grandchildren.
